Appearantly, they were settled out of court. So, the mystery remains. Did Bill O'Reiley harass his producer or not? It's just like the first Michael Jackson trial: we'll never know what really happened.

Bill wouldn't have settled if the charges were false. He's an attention whore.

Aren't we all? But anyhow, I've heard of the lawyer before. He's one of those celebrity lawyers, such as Johnny Cochran or Mark Geragos, that brings the wrath of God onto people. Whether the charges were false or not, I don't think O'Reiley would want that legal headache. And anyone with a wallet would pay this guy to leave.

No, she wouldn't have settled had it actually happened. Her lawer wanted to get paid and she didn't want to go to jail for extortion.

while it must have been very upsetting to his wife and family, this whole "affair" has been great for his ratings. they doubled after this story broke.

sounds like the charges were not "settled", they were dropped. the only reason the papers can get away with saying "settled" is because the counter-charges (blackmail and extortion) were also dropped. still, the correct term is not "settled", it's "withdrawn".
