I'm sure this doesn't surprise any one.. I think any of us with an IQ over 40 already knew Halliburton was getting sweetheart deals. However, perhaps they are just now touching the surface of just how sweet they were.

I've known since before 9/11 that PNAC would come into play if Bush got the White House based on Dick Cheney, then as appointment after appointment came from the PNAC group it became all rather clear what was going to happen, 9/11 or no 9/11. I have been trying for over 3 years to open people's eyes to PNAC. Thanks for this post. More people need to understand what is going on. It goes far deeper then oil. Hopefully thanks to the total debacle that the Bush administration has made of Iraq, perhaps the PNAC doctrine (now known as the Bush doctrine) will be proved not useful. We can only hope.

To be honest, I'm not surprised. Many find Halliburton as a new kid on the block because its former CEO, Dick Cheney, is VP. However, the opposite is true. Cheney used the Halliburton board to advance politically. That's because Halliburton and the US government have always had cozy relatiions. They are just brought to light now because of Cheney.

Yeah, using Halliburton was shameless favoritism.. we shoulda used another company, like.. hm.. uh.. Halliburton? ;)
Face it, the choices were: Halliburton, Halliburton and Halliburton. That's it.
Whether or not they overcharged is being investigated, but that's another issue.

Meh, everythings owned by halliburton so that's probably true. I heard that they actually own most of eastern europe, they just don't want anyone to know...

There were specific jobs that could have been awarded to other companies though. Halliburton may be the only company that could do the whole shebang, but other sub-contractors could have been chosen, likely at much lower cost.
