Yankees Win!
The New York Yankees scored more runs during the ALCS, so according to liberal logic, they are the World Series Champions. THey outscored the Red Socks 45-41 in the series. Get your Yankees World Champions Shirts here (http://www.heritage.org/Press/Commentary/ed102804a.cfm).
I don't get it......
Then again i don't feel like thinking what it's supposed to mean, but can you in a nutshell, tell me what you mean by that? X_X :mp5:
Red Sox won and the Yankees stayed in New York and cried. The baseball gods decreed it so and so it was. The New York era is over and the Boston one has begun. Let' all get used to it!
Go Red Sox!!!

Yes because in a democracy, the team (person) with more points (votes) should always win......you idiot!

Munke's saying that even though the rules have been in place for a hundred years, and everyone knew about them, that they should suddenly be changed in this World Series because the Yankee's got more runs but won fewer games. After all, if games are given to the people with the most runs, then logically it's only fair that the people with the most runs should win, right?

Exactly. So even though the Yankees lost their games, they should win based on runs. Go liberal thinking!

Yeah, even though the electoral college has been in place for over 200 years, just because more dead people voted for gore, he should be president.

St Louis scored more runs than any other team during the entire season, so by your logic, they are the champs.

Gay? Cross-dressers? I must remember to watch Yankees baseball more often, then I suppose.
Ok whoever posted the original post failed to mention that each game is a seperate tally, what a fucking dumbass. it doesnt surprise me coming from a conservative though....

Like each state is a seperate tally, dumbass?
Who cares if the Yankees scored more runs? That doesn't determine who wins a series. Learn baseball rules. So who cares about Gore logic who did win more votes than Bush by the way and should have been elected. But this thread is really about wishful thinking that the Yankees would still be able to hold a "curse" over the Red Sox's heads. Not anymore. History was made last night!
Enjoy it!!

You're missing the point of this thread entirely. It's to show you how ridiculous it is to whine about the popular vote.

Whoever wins the popular vote should be president. If not, this isn't really democracy when the Electoral College chooses and the people just recomend.

:) Thank you for making my point so clear. By your reasoning, regardless of established rules, the team that gets more runs (votes) should win. Try not to flip flop in one post, like Kerry would if he posted here.
By the way, this thread is not about wishful thinking about the yankees. I hate them. I rooted for the Red Soxs in the WS.

Then clearly the person with the most runs should win, otherwise baseball is not representative of skill, just about who managed to get lucky in a few key games. The people determine how the Electoral Colleges works, they decide if they want to split the vote, or give it all to one guy.

Is great logic for why popular vote doesn't matter against the electoral college. Excellent.

We'll give you the booby prize for "Most Worthless Runs".
We'll go a step further a make up a new designation for batting ineptness. When someone does more than their averages would lead you to expect, and they do it in exactly the right situations, we call them a "clutch hitter", right?
So now when a batter does less than his averages gives you a right to expect, and does so just when you need him most, but tries to cover the failure with the futility of useless hits that do nothing to decide the course of any game, we'll dub him a "Yankee hitter."
Well, Monkebrain's analogy is severly flawed.
Personally, i see the popular vote as representing a single game, with the state electoral system representing individual innings. Is the winner the team with the most total runs in a game, or the most innings won in a game?
Now, if we had a series of votes over time, that would be more like a World Series. In fact, who controls the Congress is more like a World Series. Over time, the side with the most votes will control Congress, though it's usually not decided by any single election cycle.
Just my two cents. I return you to Teletubbies.
Then clearly the person with the most runs should win, otherwise baseball is not representative of skill, just about who managed to get lucky in a few key games. The people determine how the Electoral Colleges works, they decide if they want to split the vote, or give it all to one guy.
Baseball and an election are two totally different things!!!!!
You win the World Series by winning 4 games!!!!!
You win an election by getting the most votes!!!!!!
Totally different!!!!! Baseball is representative anyway, it's the team who wins the most games. Try a different analogy!!!
