While I'm not a fan of Eminem, I kinda liked the video.

In his first video he spoofed Clinton/Lewinsky. I don't think he really cares, it's all about image.

Wow, Eminem hates Bush. I must vote for Kerry now because I am a 16-year old pot/coke/meth/powdered sugar head with a room temperature IQ and no self confidence outside of my crotch-stuffing ability.

I must admit that I never used to like Eminem either as a musician or as a person. However, even though I still listen to little of his music, I can't help liking his fashion for giving out a political message in his videos or lyrics. They draw attention to already controversial issues and add a new and sometimes funny edge to them. First there was his video of Clinton/Lewinsky, then Bin Laden in a cave, Jacko and now Bush. This shows that he can hardly be accused of political bias.

After all, isn't that what music 's all about? It's the same with comedy. Comedy and music can perform a great service.

Well done Eminem.

Yes, I love social commentary by a hip hop artist.

He can bash whatever major political figures he likes, but he still makes crap music.

He is an oppurtunist, he just puts in whoever is currently newsworthy. Plus, as he has so ineloquently stsed in the past, he thinks Bush is evil. Of course, Bush is not the one getting little children to by crap music and shoot each other. THat would be ol' slim shady shithead.

Yeah, if he was bashing Kerry he'd be your favourite "artist".

There's other solutions to that :p

Despite clearly agreeing with the crap music comment, I don't seem to recall ever hearing Eminem tell anyone to go shoot up their school...care to quote some instances on that?

Not quite, his music sucks. Plus, I am not so simple minded as to give a rats ass what a celibrity thinks. I thought he sucked when he was making fun of clinton and monica.

yeah, but in this one he leads something that looks suspiciously like a black bloc on a building that looks suspiciously like the whitehouse. which is pretty damn cool in my book.

Guilty Conscience - "Shoot that bitch!"

That one. I'm taking my kid to the doctor, I'll get you more later.

Taken out of context.

Guilty Conscience played off the idea of two opposing voices in various characters heads. eminem played the bad guy, Dr.Dre the good side. While he did indeed say "Shoot that bitch" he meant it as a response to the idea that the character just saw his wife screwing around on him and it's a thought in his head.

FYI, I hate Eminem, I hate Rap Music, I hate the Bling culture...but taking the guys words out of context to fit your own ideas and agenda's isn't nice. ;)

Maybe he was talking about having his dog put down. Don't you try telling me that a child has never had to make that decision. :sniper:

Why does everyone hate Eminem? He's probably the best recent rapper.

Not to say rap is all that great though.

nah. he's funny, but there's better.

and what is with white people and their dismissiveness about rap and hip hop? (except, of course, when it has enough media force behind it to get on their alterna-rock radio stations - then it's ok. at least it has stopped being overtly racist now. 7 years ago they wouldn't have played outkast or anything because "it wasn't part of their format", but the beastie boys were perfectly acceptable, as were 'rappy' songs from bands that normally just played rock.)

Didn't you know that if you play his last album backwards there is a satanic message telling kids that Jesus is an asshole and that gang war rocks?
By the way, that was sarcasm.

I'm white and I don't have a problem with old school rap. It's pretty good, some of it.

What amazes me is that people actually talk like Eminem invented hip-hop/rap.

Peoples' ignorance never fails to astound me. Eminem isn't even the first white rapper ... that would be Debbie Harry.

It's an artform that goes back 30 years in its modern form (is Eminem even 30 yet?) and is based on a combination of African tribal syncopated vocal rythms and 12th century Yiddish rap (yes, you'll notice all those Jewish producers, they're there for a reason).

As for Eminem bashing Bush ... so what? He bashes everybody.

Whatever happend to his song with the "rather see the President dead" lyric, which supposedly got him a Secret Service visit? I kinda like Eminem, but I liked him more before he started whoring himself to the MTV watching kids. It's kind of strange how he got so damn big so fast. I think he's one of the most talented rappers in the last decade, but you gotta wonder...

As for the alternative/rock radio stations that play white rap, what's up with that? I call bullshit. And I'm not talking about music with rapped lyrics (like Cake), but the music that belongs in the Rap/hip-hop genre (like M&M, Beastie Boys, ICP).

what was funny was when they wanted to play the first eminem single on q101 in chicago. they claimed that they had had a huge number of people requesting it, but that the execs said it wasn't part of the alterna-rock format. then they claimed a few days later that the execs had caved because of all the requests, so now they would play the occassional rap song. to which nobody but me and a few other people said "wtf? just what do you call the frelling beastie boys that you've been playing since day one then?"

Kind of ignorant move on slims part. Everyone forgets that out of people in america there are rougly 50% dem and 50% gop. People who love bush will resent eminem for making this movie. I wonder if that will hurt his sales. Didn't bush win the black and hispanic vote last election ? I'm not saying he did so don't argue with me because i don't care. Partisim hurts nations more than it gives.Eminems just lowered himself to the level of an anti bush face in the crowd now.Pitty
