Does anyone else here "hate" where they live?

I got into a fight with my parents this morning because I said I didn't plan to spend the rest of my life in the city I am living in. They got all excited and said "Let's get moving now to your perfect Nirvana then". I left for school very annoyed and it bugged me all day. My dad has an attachment to Saskatchewan that I don't have because he was born here. I really don't care for were I live because there are no decent opportunities once your done High School and I just dislike the city in general. Does anyone else feel this way about where they live?

And no, this isn't a thread about me bitching, this is me explaining a situation I wish I wasn't in and asking others if they feel the same way or similar in thier own situation.

I don't particularly mind Southern California, or the city I'm in....I just dislike the weather. That's the only reason why I'd move.

i guess many people feel that way about their homes. I liked the tiny little village I grew up in a lot, but was very excited to move to the city at age 16. ...and a little later I moved out completely and went far away :D
I think it's natural for everyone to want to move away from their parents at some point and start living their own lives.

Where I live now is a short walk away from the bus stop, and I have a park nearby that very few people actually go to, allowing me some respite from the day.

Really, that's all I ask for right now.

Of course, as time goes on, I'll hate it. I've hated it before in the past, and I'll hate it again in the future.

But right now I'm trying to simplify things a lot more in my life, so I don't drag myself down about it.

What could you possibly dislike about the weather in southern California? Do you live in a real hot area?

Well, it's true. I live in southern California, and well...uh...yeah. Frankly, I've given up hope on finding anyone else who's non-religious and straightedge. They just don't exist, aside from me :p

He might mean the recent storms.

Which I don't understand, because I'm loving the rain ;p

that makes you unique then :)
...and i always thought that all a person needs to be happy is sunshine and good weather (funny how usually that's closely linked...)
...maybe that's just cause where i'm from winter's so *#@ long.

Bah, if there's one thing I've learned from living in souther California, it's that sunshine is way overrated :p

I'm loving the storms we're getting. Rain = awesomeness.

hehe, hadn't noticed it before...but isn't it kind of ironic that the terra di libertà would post this? after all, isn't this exactly what most people are looking for, a 'free land'? :p

look at it as a challenge... sort of. why do you have to move, if i may ask?Well I'm french working for a french company and I have a contract for a client in Brussel, but the contract expires on december 31st. During my 3 years contract in Brussel, I met wonderful people and I enjoyed a wonderful time. It really sucks that I have to return back to Paris, take the subway and stuff. I don't know anybody anymore there.
But that's life, sometimes it sucks.

I'm from Boston and I have a very complex love-hate relationship with it that can't be very well described, but I can imagine myself living anywhere else in the world. Especially not now that the Sox just won the World Series.

I grew up in San Diego and was thrilled to get the hell out of there. Mostly (where I lived, anyway) stuck-up people and the weather is VERY dry, and it's so expensive you can't afford to live there. (No joke, a tiny 2 bd 1 bath house with about 20 square feet of yard sells for like 200 grand)
Funny thing is, I guess my mom expected me to stay there. Maybe cuz I'm an only child. I didn't know it till I moved outta state, and she seemed like she couldn't believe I didn't come back home to live. Weird, huh?
My situation is a little different, cuz my mom hated it there too--maybe she's kinda jealous that I got out and she's still there--
Oh well, everybody's different and just because your folks like where they're at doesn't mean you have to. Get out--there's a whole planet out there to explore!!!!

Maybe you should quit your whining, and when you grow up, move where you want.

I like it here in the northern mountains of NY. We went kayaking on a wilderness lake two days ago, a natural glacial lake, no development, quite lovely.

Today we drove and walked out a mountaintop logging road. The setting sun turned the maple and birch leaves to blazinf fire.

Our neighbors respect us because we winter over in -30 degrees instead of running to the city.

Yet we are half an hour from racing, ballet, drama, art, hockey, pro basketball...

Nope, I don't hate where I live.

I had a good friend in Regina. Her name was Julie. She found things there to enjoy, including kayaking on the Churchill River. She even said she enjoyed the early dark night of winter, she said it felt like "a big wool blanket being pulled over you, sheltering you".

So, even admitting Julie is an exceptional person, you can cope.

This place sucks. I go to what is supposed to be one of the better public schools in the nation, but I'm still not learning jack shit. The weather blows. When I moved here, I expected lots and lots of snow in the winter, but no, it's just cold as hell. The people where I go to school aren't too bad, but that's half an hour away, and this place is filled with redneck assholes. All of my friends are in New Mexico (which is where I normally go to school, and actually learn, but my parents are keeping me home this semester for some dumbass reason). And that brings me to my parents: I can't stand living with these people! How can anyone live with their parents until they're 18? I'm a pretty laid back individual, and not much into discipline, but as soon as I got into high school I went off to military school, because living at home sucks that bad. And now I'm back here... *sigh*

*counts the days 'til January, when I'll (hopefully) be out of this hellhole again*
