I used to favor British Airways. BA is still my airline of choice when travelling to the UK, Austria, Holland, and Europe in general.

But the best airline I've ever been on is Emirates. By far.... Their service is beyond that of other airlines.

Honorable mentions go to:

1) Singapore Air
2) Qatar Airways
3) Qantas

I picked Emirates because, in all my many travels, ive never had such good service, entertainment, food, and all in all good ride.

Honorable Mentions:

1. British Airways.
2. PIA(Pakistan International Airlines)
3. American

(Note:this is from Buisiness class ratings, seeing how ive rode them all in Buisiness class but not all in economy.)

Aeroflot. The planes are crap, but the pilots are all ex-fighter pilots and can do some nifty landings. Plus in a straight fight with hijackers, I'd back their air stewardesses every time. No messing with those guys!

U.S. Airways, I would be devestated if they went out of business. They have the widest choice of movie, TV show, and music selection, the food above average, and overall good service.

Im not so sure about that.

British Airways first class has about 50 movies available, not to mention around 15 in-flight tv stations.

But to each his own.

Definatly JetBlue, although to be honest, I haven't ridden the others on the list. But where else can you watch TV, have a snack, and sit in a leather seat with plenty of leg room for such a low cost?

Taca, LanChile, Skyblue, and Varig are definetly the best airlines you can fly in Latin America, yet the movie varities suck on most of them (Pretty Woman in warped Spanish...), but the food and seats rock.

Include that with United. United and Lufthansa are both part of the "Star Alliance"

What do you mean by best? I voted Southwest becuase their so friggin' cheap while the big ones like United and American are crooks and don't have much better service. I've never ridden on British, France, and Quantas to name a few.

Voted Southwest, because, as has been said, they're cheap. Also, their employees seem to have a pretty laid back attitude and you can joke around with them a hell of a lot more than with some other airlines. This is especially important for someone that is part of a college marching band that is (or at least was) banned from a certain major airline due to us messing around and them not being able to take jokes.

British was clean, quiet, polite, on time, and the food was very good.

On KLA the rivets kept threatening to fall out; the noise and vibration were terrible.

What a contrast.

I kinda like Delta, actually. Their drink service is prompt, they've got Stewards/esses tend to have high double, occasionally triple digit IQs, and the planes aren't horrible. Generally flown incompetently, and they're more than an hour delayed about half the time, but I've come to expect that.

Southwest, though, is impressive. They aren't equipped to give tickets for connecting flights (because they're usually first-come-first-serve until the plane's full, what's-a-reservation, you bought a ticket not a promise for a seat), and they don't check ID for connecting flights, if you walk up to a terminal after you get off a flight they just hand you a ticket (without even asking for a name). I had a photocopy of my actual driver's liscense for the original check-in*, so the agent said she can't accept this and then gave me the ticket anyway. Oh, and for airport security, if they see you have a Southwest ticket, you get pulled aside automatically for a search, but since they do this to ALL SW tickets, very few personel actually search you. While usually cheaper than Delta, the lack of security has to be illegal...

*Somehow, I'd managed to hit the front of a cop car with my driver's side hard enough to total both cars without hurting myself, and there were other officers as witnesses to prove it was entirely my fault.

Huh. Never been searched and I pretty much always fly SW.

They're pretty cool about vouchers too, if you're willing to wait a few hours for a later flight. On one trip, my family made well over $3000 in ticket vouchers and got home only an hour later than originally planned. :D

I really liked Virgin Atlantic. I'm talking economy, though, not business class or first class.

I got upgraded once, and I have to say, although the economy section of NorthWest is shitty as hell, chewing on your knees all the way, BUSINESS on them is da bomb.

The only thing I didn't like was that they called me by my proper name in business class. I prefer the more impersonal service in coach, with the perks of business. It just freaked me out having a stew call me by name.

Although I've never ridden on it, I hear that Singapore Airlines is absolutely amazing. I wouldn't be surprised, the country itself is really superb.

As for me? I'd have to go with Japan Airlines (ANA), because I've never seen a plane boarded so quickly and effiently in my entire life. That, and watching the take offs and landings on the giant flat screen from a cockpit view is kinda breathtaking as well. So Japan has my vote.

American 777s are ok, and the 757s are just a little above atrocious.

i almost always fly united. why? because i fly for free. the husband travels constantly on business and chooses united for most flights so as to maximize frequent flyer miles. united is OK.

im flying delta to aruba *shudder* they are the airline that stranded the husband in seoul for 3 days.

*I* havent flown the fancy airlines myself but the husband has. high on his list is singapore, cathay pacifica (do they still exist?) and lan chile.

OKay, so occasionally there's a typo and the return flight for a 12/24 flight will be 11/30 instead of 12/30, but that doesn't mean they won't fix it given three days or $75...

Erm... um... they're not bad compared to Midway?

The best I can recall was on Pan-Am (::sniffle:: poor dead Pan-Am). It might have been a fluke though, it was before the US deregulated and there were some 8 passengers on the flight. Having your own personal flight attendant with an alternate does make for a pleasant flight.

BA Club Europe and Club World (business class offering) are very good.

Finnair still serves hot meals on European flights which is nice too (and becoming increasingly rare). They have good service also.

SAS now charges for food in the basic economy on intra-European and Nordic flights which is a bit of a pain.

Wonderful Ronald reagan the great deregulator.

He ruined airlines, banks, and everything else.

What a saint.

Does this count Hooters Airlines? That would probably top anything any airline could do. Also JetBlue is cool cause its all good seats. Asian things(not tryin to stereotype) are always neat and clean. So if ur a cleanliness person probably pick a Asian airline. If ur a horny male pick Hooters. If you want luxery at an affordable price pick JetBlue.

International: Icelandic Air. Clean, friendly, and since they use their island for an aircraft carrier, great on longer flights like NYC to Vienna.

Domestic: Hooters! No hot wings, but cheap, fun, and the *best* way to get from NYC to Myrtle Beach!

Well, the only one I've rode on (within memory) is Singapore Air....but the main reason we chose it was because we've heard such good things about it (with regards to price and service)
I had no complaints about it. Very nice stewardesses/stewards, had an entertaining captain one way (don't remember if it was on the way there or back now)
