Which one should progress into the top 8 for the final vote?

OK. The Run down for the poll finished with 7 of the last 8 being decided. They are as follows:

Blackadder: 11 (nominations)
Yes Minister/Prime Minister: 9
Red Dwarf: 7
Father Ted: 5
The Office: 3
Spaced: 3
Fawlty Towers: 2

However one name is still to be added to that before the final vote. So with all the nominations in please vote for the one from this list that you think deserves a chance to be crowned Britain's Best Sitcom:

Are You being Served
Black Books
Bottom
Coupling
Hancock's Half Hour
Last of the Summer Wine
My Hero
Only Fools and Horses

This time, in the name of neutrality, I shall not vote in this poll.

Didn't Only Fools and Horses win the vote for this on the BBc a while back?
Not as good as Blackadder or Red Dwarf but it has to make the last 8...

I'm awfully sorry, but I couldn't vote for both. Although to be fair, Father Ted was better than Yes, Prime Minister, which also wasn't quite as good as Yes, Minister.

It's very recent. The Second and Last Series finished earlier this year.

Its based in a book shop and stars Bill Bailey (off QI) and is written by Graham Linehan, the guy who made Father Ted.

I always liked it, but am not quite sure if it is among the likes of Blackadder.

I have no idea Lisa, but it would appear that i'm missing out on it. Come the finals, Blackadder gets my vote.
Captain Darling: Look, I'm as British as Queen Victoria.
Captain Blackadder: So your father's German, you're half German, and you married a German?

The Court Martial scene in Blackadder Goes Forth: Corporal Punishment is one of the most brilliantly written and performed scenes in television history. Don't agree? Just watch it and you will! (Melchett: However, before we get round to the formality of sentencing the deceased, I mean the defendant!"

Is it not? I thought it was. I've never watched it, although my sister told me to. I stopped trusting my sister's taste in comedy when she confessed to liking Harry Hill AND Bo Selecta.

Although it was classified as Sitcom in the poll on the BBC last year, this is my poll and I say it's a sketch show! :p

It is, but a story is woven into it through the episodes, rather than a small story in every episode

Poll Update!

At the moment it's a three way heat betwen 'Black Books' which is in the lead, "Only Fools and Horses" and "Bottom" who are neck and neck on second.

Good to see Kellarly putting his vote down on Hancock's Half Hour.

I must admit I would be surprised to see 'Black Books' win but I wouldn't complain as it is quite good.

If its a tie by the way then I'll have the casting vote. If not then I won't vote at all.

This entire thread is irrelevant. No matter who wins, Blackadder will win the final one.

Mary: Oh no, you must take care, my brave hero. (puts hand on his forehead)

Edmund: `Brave hero', Nurse? I was more wounded the last time I clipped my toenails.

Mary: (to George) Take no notice of him.

Edmund: (in a sarcastically sympathetic voice) Yes, pay no attention to the nasty man.

Mary: Look, If I can't give my brave boys a kind word and a big smile, what can I give them?

Edmund: Well, one or two ideas do suggest themselves -- but you'd probably think they were unhygienic.

Poll Update

Only Fools and Horses is at present on course for the final 8 of "Britain's Best Sitcom". If you oppose this then you have less than two hours to prevent it from getting through so go on people place your votes.

While Black Books is great, Only Fools...is clearly the superior. It's a classic and when people stop being silly and recognise this it will get a large lead.

I have to agree. Black Books was good but despite the all too obvious fact that the most recent episodes have been at best average, Only Fools and Horses has been tremendously funny over a very large number of years and is just much much longer i.e. there's more episodes than Black Books. It's also much more family orientated as in you could watch it with your grandparents and your own children and it would appeal to all.

This is probably why it finished first in the BBC poll and was always destined to. I still prefer Blackadder, Father Ted and The Office, but OFAH aint half bad.
