A Bush - Hitler Similarities

I didn't get to make my point before the Bush Nazi thread got locked down, so here we go.

I would never accuse Bush of sharing views with Hitler, that is ignorant and irresponsible, however they are similar in political maneuvering.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1933 The Reichstag Building in Germany is burnt down. The government (led by the Nazi party) believed it was the work of communist revolutionaries. In response Hitler pushed the Decree for the Protection of People and State (http://www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/riseofhitler/burns.htm) which granted the Nazi party sweeping power to deal with the problem.

This is decree gave government the ability to limit the rights of assembly and association, gave government the ability to monitor telegraphic and telephonic communication, and gave the government the ability to investigate people without needing a warrant. Does this remind anyone of the Patriot Act?

I posted this on the original one but I like it so I will post it again.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
-- Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials

Tell me this plan of action hasn't been taken by the current administration.

Other similarities include:

The constant invoking of God
The generalization of an entire race to unite the populous
The complete ignoring of foreign relations and agreements
The imprisoning of people without rights

There are more but I am out of time.
