This is my take. You can have a bad soul that leads you're body to do bad deeds, but you can also have a good soul that guides you to do great deeds. I don't know the truth to this other than the truth of it to myself. I know that it is a constant struggle of what one will become at least for what it has been for me. 'I think' this is where the decision may lie for if we go to heaven or hell. We must seek this truth for ourselves. I have found (so far and I change my mind often) this to be true for me.

okay then. . .good job.
I don't think that our 'soul' directs us at all. Unless you use that as an abstract. Its like saying our concious is a little voice that speaks in our ear and tells us what we 'should' do.
In my opinion (i refuse to speak aim) we make our own decisions based upon what we view as moral, right, or feels good. For a christian, they feel like its easy. There's a nice set of rules that someone made up for them to follow. And they try and follow those rules religiously. Its that same way for every religion. Atheists have it a bit more interesting. They need to decide how they see the world and what they feel is right or wrong as they experience the world. This does not lead to 'immoral' people as some fundamentalists have claimed, but it leads to people of a different sort of morality.
