Who here likes to dove hunt. Who here thinks its barbaric. I'm only asking because I just got home a little while ago from the last day of dove season in Kentucky.

What's the point in killing a dove?

Its fun because they move really fast and the fact that they taste good.

If the dove is a symbol of peace, does shooting one mean thumbing your nose towards peace?

its horrifying to me that anyone would shoot doves

my sister in law and her boyfriend do but they are serious hunting nuts. theres just the 2 of them but every year they hunt deer, elk, turkey, ducks geese, doves, whooping cranes, spotted owls, bald eagles.....

well maybe not ALL those but way more than 2 slim people can eat in meat in a year, though they do try.

Dove hunting...oh, the irony!

Seriously, I haven't a problem with hunting for sustenance - hunting for sport I believe is justified as a possible counter-measure to overpopulation of some species, otherwise, I hunt, too (I just shoot with a camera, not a gun).

My father-in-law hunted dove, and I ate some.

They are basically just wld pigeons.

I went grouse hunting with him too, and it was an unforgettable experience. We shared that grouse for Thanksgiving.

Like most good sportsmen he was also an ardent conservationist, and helped secure wildlife and habitat protections on thousands of acres (without government involvement, by paying for them).

I am proud to have known him.

Hunting doves is hardly barbaric. I should know: I come from Alaska (The Land of Backwards and Uncivilised (British spelling intended) Barbarismâ„¢). And we much prefer hunting ptarmigans; they are much more stupider and tastier and gorier than doves.

If they're the only thing around to eat, then sure.

Otherwise, why not go for something bigger, than can provide more?
