Washington Post Endorses Kerry for President
Sun Oct 24, 2004 12:03 AM ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Washington Post endorsed Sen. John Kerry for president in its Sunday edition, saying the Democratic candidate had wisdom and open-mindedness that made him a stronger candidate to lead the United States than President Bush.
Ten days before the election, the Massachusetts Democrat now leads Bush 66 to 57 in newspaper endorsements, according to the trade publication Editor and Publisher.
Papers endorsing Kerry, including the New York Times, have a combined circulation of 10.6 million readers, compared to a combined circulation of 6.6 million for papers endorsing Bush, Editor and Publisher said.
Kerry also picked up an endorsement in the Sunday edition of the Chicago Sun-Times, a major regional paper near Midwestern battleground states, Editor and Publisher said. Chicago's other daily, the Tribune, has endorsed Bush.
The Post, one of the most influential U.S. papers, said Kerry would manage the federal budget more responsibly than Bush and would better protect health care, the environment and civil liberties.
Kerry understands foreign threats and would do a better job of nation-building in Iraq, it said.
The Post's editorial page has supported Bush's decision to go to war in Iraq, but said he did not adequately prepare for reconstruction after Saddam Hussein was defeated. At home, Bush has governed as a heavy-handed Republican partisan and promoted tax cuts at the expense of fiscal health, the Post said.
In 2000, the Post endorsed Democratic candidate Al Gore.

Protestors in some states can now hold up signs showing this:
"Hey George, we already voted, and it wasn't for you."
When I read that on Reuters, I laughed :)

Voting Democrat doesn't automatically make you a "Liberal".

I agree!
Besides, it doesn't matter who endorses who. In the end, it comes down to the voters.
Besides, I do like that ABC/WP polls. I find them to be accurate even if the polls goes against Bush
Right now, the polls are going against Kerry.

I wish people would stop saying "The Jews" like everybody blames us for everything. The truth is, Al Gore got 79% of the Jewish vote in 2000. And while many Jews did support the Iraq invasion, I know many (myself included) who believ it was a mistake.

Well I can tell you why Many Jews supported it. Its because Saddam supported Palestinian Terror Groups.
The Orlando Sentinel, which endorsed George W. Bush in 2000, his brother for governor in 2002, and hasn't endorsed a Democrat for president for 40 years, today strongly endorsed John Kerry for president. They were sharply critical of Bush.
Four years ago, the Orlando Sentinel endorsed Republican George W. Bush for president based on our trust in him to unite America. We expected him to forge bipartisan solutions to problems while keeping this nation secure and fiscally sound.
This president has utterly failed to fulfill our expectations.

Absolutely none of this is true. However, what is true, and can be documented, is that "Axis of Evil" Iran has publically supported George W. Bush for president.
The head of Iran's security council, Hasan Rowhani, said the re-election of President Bush was in Tehran's best interests. "We should not forget that most sanctions and economic pressures were imposed on Iran during the time of Clinton," Rowhani said. "And we should not forget that during Bush's era — despite his hard-line and baseless rhetoric against Iran — he didn't take, in practical terms, any dangerous action against Iran."
Why shouldn't one intolerant religious government endorse another?

And I thought the jews are behind the neocon movement and the PNAC. They are among the liberals too?Like any large group there are a variety of viewpoints among its members. Traditionally western Jews have been among the most progressive social elements, and one finds an rather large chunk of most progressive social movements contain a disproportionate number of jews. There seems to be a strong cultural impetus among the jewish culture which pushes individual jews to work for change. Look up a list the 20 most influential communist theorists of the 20th century, for instance, and see how many of them are jewish. While the neo-cons are in theory aligned with conservatives, they are still a progressive social movement working to change society.
