I can't speak for these particular pie snipers, but I'd guess that given the opportunity, they would have. Maybe they were poor shots, or maybe security was going to nab them before they had a clear shot. People like Ann Coulter can't exactly walk down the street, whistling a tune.

Most likely they won't be charged with anything. The piers will probably spend a night or two in a jail cell. Even though a pie won't hurt anyone, pieing somoene should have some sort of consequence, otherwise you'd have pie anarchy. A pie anarchy world is a world I don't want to live in.

Fact of the matter is that we're talking about pies, not assault with any intent to injure. A person who randomly pies people on the street would probably be more likely to be charged with creating a public nuisance than assault.

In either case, one could press an assault charge, and quite frankly, they'd be a dick to do so. It cannot be argued that this was not politically motivated, and since it was quite harmless, I don't see it crossing over from free speech to assault. As someone else has pointed out, legally, that may not be the case. I am not here to argue legal technicalities, either.

Fact of the matter is that we're talking about pies, not assault with any intent to injure. A person who randomly pies people on the street would probably be more likely to be charged with creating a public nuisance than assault.

In either case, one could press an assault charge, and quite frankly, they'd be a dick to do so. It cannot be argued that this was not politically motivated, and since it was quite harmless, I don't see it crossing over from free speech to assault. As someone else has pointed out, legally, that may not be the case. I am not here to argue legal technicalities, either.
