The Bush Doctrine and the Middle East

Glad the title of the post got your attention. Now, whether you agree with Bush or not, I don't care... but has anyone taken a look at a map of the Middle East lately? Everyone is screaming for Bush to do something about North Korea and Iran yet condemn him for preempting Saddam in Iraq.

Right now, Iran has basically given the raspberry to the France, Britain and the rest of the UN Security Council and will continue to try to create nuclear (pronounced nucULAR, right Dubya? hehe) missles. Isreal is ready to step in and destroy Iran's nuclear factories if the UN fails like they did with Iraq a while ago. Europe is already asking for the US to step in and speak to Iran which would do little to deter them. All of this news seems to lead to one conclusion that Iran is about to force a war by developing nuclear weapons (especially with the Bush Doctrine in place).

Has anyone noticed that Iran is almost completely surrounded by US forces or our allies? Take a look at any map of the Middle East:
http://www.atlapedia.com/online/maps/political/Saudi_etc.htm
To the east, US forces are in Afghanistan. To the west, Iraq. To the south, aircraft carriers are stationed in the Persian Gulf. North, we have air bases in Turkey and Armenia would not mind if we entered through their borders but Turkmenistan is a question mark to me since I don't know our current status with them. One would think they are Iran-friendly but maybe Russia could put some pressure on them? I can only speculate. We've also heard mentioned in the US presidential debates that we're developing bunker-busting tactical nuclear bombs (hint:Iran is mostly mountanous) so those could theoretically be used to deter Iran from major counterstrikes (right?).

Just curious to see what everyone thinks about Iran's current position and what must be done to stop their nuclear proliferation...

Heh, I don't know where you got the idea that the world wants US military involvement in Iran. If the IAEA refers the matter to the Security Council, you can bet that anything the US has to say on the matter will be vetoed by France and Russia.

*blink* I thought the Bush Doctrine was, "Never let them find out how much coke you did."

Boy oh boy, that veto power that France and Russia had sure did stop the US from entering Iraq! (note the heavy sarcasm)

Please try to keep the fact that many people hear not only dislike Bush, but hate the man for idiotic reasons when we all know you're mad at him because he is a conservative that is succeeding at what he's wanted to do. (Not to the level that he wanted, but he pushed tax cuts and got them. Pushed SocSec reform and got it. I don't care if you agree with him or not, the man has had some success)

Now, back to my original post: what do you think will come from the current Iran situation? Can anyone else not see that Iran is focusing so hard on Iraq because they are surrounded by US forces? We are fighting a proxy war against them through Iraq. The IAEA basically doesn't even want to admit that there is a problem with Iran maybe because of a fear of US intervention? I'm just throwing these ideas out to you all. Feedback is encouraged since I have had too few people interested in talking about this lately....

....

Whatever halloccia.

I never heard anyone pushing for Bush to invade Iran. Even though its obvious it will happen as soon as the troops can be mustered.

And no opponents of Bush scream for him to invade North Korea or other such places, they just say its hypocritical he doesnt.
