Will this presidential election determine a cultural shift in America?

Do you think that the outcome of this US Presidential election will determine a cultural shift in America?

The victory of George Bush in 2000 appeared to give the American conservative/Christian movement a major boost. Liberals were unhappy - feelingswhich later changed to despair and anger.

We're told that this is the most important election of our lives; that the result will determine the next 50 years of US policy. Does this extend to culture? Will a Bush victory solidify the path of the US people into conservative/Christian territory? Will a Kerry victory send
Americans down a path of liberalism or centrism more in line with the rest o the world?

Am I reading into this too much? Is this election overrated?

You're reading too much into this. The election is over-rated. In the grand scheme of things, you're just swapping one bastard for another.

Centralism will win out if Kerry wins because the world in America will shift bacvk left and be more central.
Neo-cons will win out if Bush wins as will the world in America become more right wing.

Look even Rush Limbaugh (My step father was listening to him. I find him deplorable but he says funny stuff sometimes about own party) says republicans are low self-esteem wimps. They had 10 years in power and just now they are starting to do stuff?

But yeah, Kerry will make the world more moderate if he wins.
And McCain might try for an independant party run for president in 2008.

I thought he was running for Prez of USA, not King of the World? Or will he inherit this crown by default when Bush is kicked out?

I wouldn't think many voters actually care about the issues.
It's more likely mostly just:
Republican voter: RAWWR LIBERALS SUCK ALWAYS VOTE REPUBLICAN
Democrat voter: RAWWR ALL MY FRIENDS VOTE DEMOCRAT SO I'M VOTING DEMOCRAT TOO!

Yes, you didn't know that by law every country will give their self unto Kerry if he wins? Sheesh, uninformed people :)

I wrote a paper about Comfort and Freedom and posted it on here. That is exactly where we are at.

If Bush wins:
1) we see Supreme Court justices nominated who will push for the comfort of Christian morals over the freedom of personal choice.

2) We will see corporate benefits passed out limiting the freedoms of the small business and new market entrants.

3) We will see more lackadaisical handling of corporate corruption, limiting the freedoms of workers and small investors.

4) We will maintain our comfortable dependence on oil with the spreading of freedom through war.

5) We will watch the government become more and more comfortable as more and more privacy is allotted to it, and we will watch our own freedom melt away as more and more of our privacies are taken by the government.

This is something that I can't stand for.

Look at him. Bad spelling, usage of numerous shooting smilies...

He's an idiot, and we all know the democrats try to get rid of THEM by trying to help public education :D

Certainly not the uptight, faux-intelligent people that go around saying "do tell".

Anyone who says this election isn't any more important than any other is neglecting the fact that up to three justices will have to be replaced by whoever takes office next year...
