Can kid's TV ever surpass the heady days of Postman Pat or Jamie & His Magic Torch?

Thomas the Tank Engine and Danger Mouse were up there with the best of them. But, quite frankly, these giddy heights will never be reached again.

Ooh and the Smurfs rocked!! Were they someone's drug-induced hallucination or is it just me?

I am unfamiliar with Jamie and his magic torch though... care to enlighten us?

Don't slag off children's telly. What was good for our generation is not necessarily as good for this generation. Things like the Tweenies etc. may be totally different to what things were like in my day but that doesnt mean it is worse for kids. It's for kids. If kids enjoy it and it isn't teaching them bad habits then what's wrong with it? Grow up and stop being a baby by saying "The TV I had was better".

I hate people being nostalgic and talking about a golden age of TV. There was no golden age. For every five great series of whatever decade one could name another 20 series from the same era that were absolutely terrible. There is more good TV produced nowadays than in the past. Its just that there is also more dross produced nowadays than in the past. This is because there is so much more television and more choice.

Stop being a nostalgic bore! If you do not like it read a book.

His name was Jamie, and he had a magic torch. The premise was pretty simple. Now why can't my Maglite open up portholes through which I can have psychadelic adventures?

I'm only taking the piss. No need to take it quite so seriously.

Someone suggested we talk about something else rather than the same endless recycled debates, and so I came up with another topic that can be endlessly recycled.

Sorry. Wasn't necessarily talking to you. Just these boring, middle England, self-centered bozos who criticise everything that's not over 50 years old.

I like some older things, I dislike some other older things. I like some modern things and dislike some other modern things.
I just hate people who criticise something just because it is new and/or different.

Agreed! Hell, I still watch the new episodes of Thomas the Tank Engine of Nick Jr (I babysit some kids, but I'd probably still watch it). Also my mates girlfriends daughter is really into Thundercats (being repeated weekday mornings supposidly?)
Trapdoor anyone???

Yes!!

Trapdoor!! Loads of people just don't remember that for some reason.

Didn't anyone watch the Big Knights at Xmas a few years ago? It passed most people by, and nobody believes my sister and me when we argue that they do exist, but now she has the video to prove it, after finding it on amazon.

The height of two men
The weight of four
The strength of sixteen...

The Big Knights!!
Sir Boris, and his brother Sir Maurice,
And their noble pets,
Sir Horace the Dog and Sir Doris the Hamster.
