Who thinks the electoral system should be changed/stay? I think it should be changed to majority vote of America. The electoral system was a effective system for a small population, but I think it's a outdated system that needs to be changed to a more modern system, so everyone's vote does means something more. Your opinions?

It would require a constitutional convention. Also, I am not so pleased with what's going on all round -- early voting in Florida? the hanging chad baloney?

I'd rather see proportional representation, instead of this all-or-nothing thing. Leads to too much cheating when the incumbent has insufficient popular support, control of the media regularory agencies, and a brother in charge of an important swing state. :)

Really, actually, I'd just like to see proportional representation. Coalition government instead of the fifty-one-percent-or-nothing rule.

We're much more diverse and have better communication than we did in the 18th century, and the debate desperately needs to be elevated around here.

I'd settle for less cheating and manipulation, though.

I'm all for a constitutional amendment.

I say all states change to a system like Nebraska or Maine which hands out it's electorial votes according to population with the 2 state electoral votes going towards the winner of the popular vote. This keeps the checks in place, and gives the people the most representation.

Not sure what you mean repeat please...kinda hazy. Been stufying for atest so hard to think. If we think same idea cool.
Well I'd propose that they split up the eclectoral votes based on votes. If popular 80% for bush, 20% Kerry in a state such as South Carolina (exxaggerating numbers) there electoral votesd are devided up. For this example lets say they have 6 votes.
4 votes go to bush and 2 go to Kerry.
This way the people's votes count for a lot more and its not "mob rule".

This requires the campaigners to campaign everywhere but shouldn't ever viote count as much as possible?

I'd say this would be helpful.

Change it so that each candidate takes away a number of electoral votes that is proportional to that of the % of votes they get in a state.
