The 'there have never been any real comunist countries' thing

There's a debate that goes around from time to time about how communism. Some people think that there have been loads of communist countries, and others say that none of them were really actually communist, they only claimed to be. I think the NS FAQ gives a pretty good answer:

My nation is "the Free Republic of Bruteland," but the UN says I'm a dictatorship!

You can call your nation whatever you like, but it doesn't make it true. The UN categorizes nations based on their laws, not their names. Changing your name from "Dictatorship" to "Republic" (or anything else) has cosmetic value only.

hmm?

So they can call it communism if they want, but that doesn't make it so? Makes sense.

104 nations in the history of the world have called themselves Communist republics or ascribed to following Marxism. All of them have devolved into military dictatorships.

Simply because no nation has reached the "height" proposed by Marx does not mean no nation tried; furthermore, the results reached by each that tried this experiment should be indicative of the actual nature of what Communism is and does.

Well really, there has never been a truly representative democracy or republic. And people in a dictatorship or monarchy don't always do what the leader says. Does this mean all government is inherently flawed? Maybe :P

Yes, Democracy/Republic is a least worse system, not a best system, all attempts at communism have evolved into a worst worse system.

I believe you're closet to the truth. ;)
