Does anybody know if foreign languages or gestures would be censured on TV?

I was just watching Poker on ESPN and a Vietnamese guy lost a hand he had 80% to 20% before the final card. He started cursing (in English), but it made me think. Would he have been bleeped if he'd cursed in Vietnamese? Anybody have any idea?

No, he most likely would not have been censored. For a while it was common to make the 'merde' joke on tv because they where essentially saying shit and getting away with it. The censors have to work pretty fast on things, and especially in 'events' such as the Poker championships, they aren't neccisarily going to go through the trouble of tracking down a Vietnamese speaker to find out if he said anything bad.

What it comes down to are the seven words and that's it. Those words, in english. Everything else goes.

When I was watching German MTV (while I was in France ((our satellite was fucked up))) they never censored any music lyrics or the osbournes. Quite awkward when my dad came in while cos i got high was on. He walked in right on the line "I was gonna eat your pussy too, but I got high".

Fucking awkward
