Why is this forum now using AdWare?

I have an ad-ware blocker and when I just went back to the General Forum, my PC gave me a warning message that this site was trying to place ad-ware on my computer!
WTF???
My guess is that it is one of the ad banners at the top of the page.
I get errors on this site all the time, and it seems to be linked to specific banners when it happens.

Or it might have been A non ad related popup.
I kno on other sites when I get A window informing me I've recieved a private message it gets blocked as a popup.

If you had a proper broswer, like Mozilla or Firefox, you wouldn't be having those problems.
It happens to me specifically with two of the ad banners.
1) the "Credit Score" banner.
2) the "Cheap Tickets" Banner.
That is all.
If you had a proper broswer, like Mozilla or Firefox, you wouldn't be having those problems.
*shrug* whatever.

Agree!
I made the switch from IE to Firefox and have not regretted it. Spyware counts are almost non-existent.
IE is a whore for spyware.

Banners?
I have to agree about firefox, I have had no spyware/virus alerts at all since I got it and it crashes less than IE and if it does crash doesn't take the whole computer down with it which IE does :sniper:
@ Hakartopia if you were asking what banners are they are the rectangular things at the top of the page on the right which are ads for different things.

That's what I've done, but I use Mozilla instead.
*shrug* whatever.
Why "whatever?" Because, I'm right, and you know it. :p

I tried firefox for awhile, meh. I switched to Netscape 7.2 . I like the ability to manage cookies and popups right in the browser and the tabbed pages are a great feature.
Unfortunately IE is needed still for some things. MS demands you use it to access OS & Office updates. It also has a greather ability to block sites that are undesireable for my grandson without having to purchace and add yet another utility. The downside of this is that none are customizeable for this feature. So my grandson uses IE for his kiddie sites and the grownups use Netscape. No matter what, I still dump all at the end of the day and scan for ads, virui & bugs. SFSG

No, whatever because arguing about what browser to use is almost as inane as arguing about which presidential candidate is right during the debates.

FF has a popup blocker too. Never seen one popup from this site. I don't see Flash either btw, because if i want to see flash, i get a picture which has a 'F". If i wanna see that Flash, i click on it. Ofcourse i don't click on a Flash banner because most are irritating with sounds and loops and moving parts etc. The extension is 'flashblock' it works with any new Firefox version.

I wasn't arguing about a browser, now was I?
I was simply pointing out that if the ads are being the proponents of ad-aware/spyware, then, a browser like Mozilla has an ad blocker that helps take care of that.

I don't see the "Flashblock" extension. Where is it listed?
