Whenever my dad emails me a business document, its file name is some bizzare combination of numbers, letters, and symbols.

Does this mean l33t 5p34k has found its place in big business?

Certainly not.

Its probably just A security measure. A random naming to not reveal any clue about whats within.

the bussiness of bussiness is a sucker game to begin with
and it certainly wouldn't supprise me if it had started there or at least with the same kind of mentality

this is however not likely the source of cryptic looking file names even in bussiness let alone honest science and engineering. rather a combination of factors exist.

each organization of any kind my have organization wide standards of nominclature, where not, or sometimes embodied in them, is a combination of nemonicness and simple sequencing. something to sort and retreive on. of course nemonicness may itself be somewhat in the eye of the beholder. and one person's nemonic may be another's inscrutable cryptogram.
