Hmm..
However, I do have young relatives.
Recently, my young nephew ,actually he's the son of my cousin, who were defacto siblings, really. He calls me "Uncle (insert real name)". Its cool.
So he says to me one day..."Women are all Big fat Hillbillies!"
I thought it was hilarious coming from the mouth of a 5 year old, but thats just my sense of humour.
However, when I stopped laughing , I leaned over and said, "That may be true, but its not a very nice thing to say anyone, so you should never call anyone that, ok?"
He agreed.
Hes cool like that.
If he shows the slightest interest in music, Im gonna buy him a drumset so he can annoy his parents.
Also, on his 13th birthday, hes gonna recieve a giant collection of good music.
All kinds...leaning towards the Rock genre.
I want the kid to be well rounded.

Same; here are my more exact resonse though:
*gay* - Oh, while it does suprise me, this is a choice I can't really change in you, so I'll accept it
*drunk* - What?! When and where did you start drinking?
*high* - (see above question, only insert smoking)
*in love* - (hoping my child is a son, there's no way I could survive with duaghters) Aww, who's the lucky girl?
*otaku* - You have to learn that there are more things to like than just anime . . . but on the subject, are you a Gundam fan?

i would tell that child, any child, that lables, any lables, are only words that we invent, and that what we are,
like what the universe that surrounds us is, does not begin and end with words and lables we invent.
there are really only two considerations. the first is the avoidance of causing harm, and the second is staying out of
trouble. of the two; the first is more important then the second. (though ignoring either is never a free lunch)
our only true nature is that we are awairnessess that observe and that we are surrounded by a reality who'se
only true nature is diversity beyond our wildest immagination, though portions of how it works can be
objectively observed and there is certainly more gain then harm in doing so.

you can't help but love your child
its biological or something.
but that doesnt mean you accept everything they do. "mom, i have a secret, i've been picking up women, raping them, killing them, then dumping their bodies out in the desert"
you still love your son even as you are turning him into the police.
the stuff that isnt dangerous you just have to learn to accept. its your problem not his.
but you dont love him any less.

I disagree...One "can't help but love their child"..there are people out there who truly hate their kids, which is a sad thing.
If I ever found my son to be a rapist/sexual predator, I'd take 'im out m'self...Very few things bother me, but that happens to be one of them.
However..I honestly don't think any child of mine would turn out as such...but failing that, I'd love my child unconditionally. I suppose you might view it as harsh, but that's your choice.

someday my own children will go through the milestones that mark anyones life.
Perhaps they will question who they are: Perhaps my daughter will want to play football and my son may want to be a cheerleader. There a very good chance that my children may have differing religious beliefs. Still they will have my unconditional love, and barring any illegal, or actually harmfull activities, my unconditional support.

Love is not love if it is conditional.
welllll, I guess the REAL question is: how legal is it?
Pah, I'm only 18. I can't answer these kinds of questions :p
"...I'm gay"
I'd expect my son/daughter to find a nice Catholic boy/girl. Just because they're gay doesn't mean they can't be good Catholics.
"..I'm Protestant"
Meh, you're not getting out of midnight Mass.
"...I'm an Atheist"
So am I, doesn't stop you being a good Catholic.
"...I'm marrying a Jewish boy/girl"
The child's getting baptised, no two ways about it.
"...I'm becoming a Preist"
Eat more meat and go find a nice Catholic girl/boy.
I really wouldn't care on the proviso I ended up with grandkids natural, adopted or otherwise who were Catholic.

your child is YOUR child no matter what. Love is not conditional, it stays through all conditions, however, sometimes the best way to love someone is to let them go, or from a distance, sometimes being together in bad situations is worse than staying apart and loving from a distance. I would love my child no matter what, however, if they had some issue like pedophelia or something, I would love them enough to send them somewhere for help if need be.
your child is YOUR child no matter what.
True indeed. A child is the property of its parents. They made it, and own it, as stewards of the Creator.
Love is not conditional
Nonsense. For one, the love for a child is conditional upon it being a child. If I purchase a toilet plunger, I do not love it as my own child.
Besides. Love requires obedience. If there is no obedience to the will of the parents, there can be no true love. That is why disobedience sets us apart from the Almighty.
I would expect heathens to make such arguments, being that they are keen to spread confusion and discord wherever they go.

There are several scenarios:
'Dad? I'm gay. Do you still love me?'
'Yes. Of course. But you'll understand if we don't hug, right?' :p
then there's:
'Dad? I'm a drug addict and I think I ran over a drug dealer last night. Do you still love me?'
'Yes. Of course. But I also told you that if you ever became a drug addict that since I brought you into this world, that I'd remove you from it.' *grabs shotgun* 'You have a five second head start.'

I love my child regardless of the decisions they make. I may dislike or even hate the decisions but that has nothing to do with the person. I don't expect my child or any child out there to be the same in what they enjoy doing. Even if my child came to me and said he/she was a mass murderer I would still give my child unconditional love, I would despise the actions the child made although. But I would and could never hate my or anyone elses child. Its the same as when I look at lame ass controlling politics. I dislike the positions the people have but I still love every person unconditionally. Decisions do not make the person, decisions are only made by deciding a choice in direction. Misguided poeple deserve as much love if not actually more love than the correctly guided. Maybe not deserve but in need of that love. I prefer helping the needy over the greedy.
