This post has nothing to do with the Second Amendment; I fully support the right to keep and bear arms, and do not believe in gun control (because it is obviously not effective in the U.S.).

Soooooooooo... Why do you need so many guns? Is it just to make up for the tiny size of your penises, or is there some other reason?

I'm going to bed now, but will be more than happy to peruse your answers in the A.M.

Nighty-night.

Categorizing and collecting guns is a perfectly healthy hobby to have. Besides, diffrent guns have diffrent histories, diffrent specialties, and diffrent mechanisms. Why dont you ask any anthropologists, geologist, or radio operators who collect artifacts about their penises while you're at it?

While I also have a tiny penis, I make up for it by going on anonymous forums and insinuating that other forum-goers have even smaller penises based on entirely irrelevant data, such as how many guns they own.

By the way, I'm not even close to a gun nut. In fact, I believe the "A well-armed militia being neccesary to the security of the state..." clause prefacing the Second Amendment renders many pro-gun arguments irrelevant.

Flamebait, indeed... yet, as a hunter and gun owner, I'm interested to see what justifications (or flamings) might take place. Why does a "hunter" need a dozen AK-47's?

And whine at the Mods all you want. I'm far past caring.

Not every gun owner is a hunter. I'm a collector, and, while I don't own (or intend to purchase any time soon) an AK-47, I can certainly see why someone would be interested in them. Now, I don't believe I know anyone with a dozen AK-47's (although I could be wrong, since I do know people with hundreds of Mosin Nagants, Arisakas, Enfields, etc.), many people focus their collection on acquiring every major variant of a certain type of firearm. As to why some of us have so many guns: No, it's not to compensate for the size of my penis. If I feel I have to do that, I'll just make remarks about other people's penises, since that seems to be the SOP. Either people buy a lot of guns because they are a collector, like above, or because for some reason they think they need a .22 target rifle, a .22 plinker, a .22 varmint gun, a scoped deer rifle, and iron sighted deer rifle, a backup deer rifle, and so on and so forth. As a rule, gun nuts, much like Star Wars geeks, don't get laid a lot, so there's really no concern about penis size. ;)

Perhaps there's a gun control method here:

Maybe nobody should be allowed to own a gun that's larger then their penis. That'd certainly make for an entertaining licensing process.

Hm... I'm not a gun nut. My family has one gun, and it's not even in our possession right now. I do happen to enjoy firing guns at shooting ranges, and plan on getting my license as soon as I've worked up the cash, but that's as much safety as it is enthusiasm. I'm a 21-yr-old fairly attractive female in a large city with a boyfriend who lives on the bad side of town. I carry a knife, but I want to know how to handle a gun as well. Firearms training helps you know how to react in dangerous situations involving firearms. I'd much rather have the knowledge and the ability to use it on someone who was going to try to use it on me first than be ignorant and dead because someone got a gun illegally. Wouldn't you?

Well, I have several reasons.

Firstly, my father and I are both avid hunters, and thus we have a large number of hunting rifles and shotguns of different calibers for different game. From .243s for whitetailed deer to .460s for bigger stuff.

Secondly guns are fun to collect, and look really good on display, though one AK-47 is plenty.

In my families posession are a total of 16 firearms. Each one is a tool with a specific purpose, much like a carpenter or mechanic uses a variety of tools.
They include:
1 .22 pistol - used for target shooting and occassionally taken when going deep-sea fishing (used to put down large fish and sharks).
1 .22 scoped rifle - used for target shooting and squirrel hunting.
1 .22 "survival" rifle - used for target shooting and occassionally carried when backpacking.
1 .30-30 scoped deer rifle - used for deer hunting in heavy brush.
1 .270 scoped deer rifle - used for deer hunting in open terrain.
1 20 guage shotgun - used for skeet shooting and hunting.
1 18 guage shotgun - used for skeet shooting and hunting.
3 12 guage shotguns - used for various types of hunting.
2 M-1 Garands - of historical interest.
2 blackpowder rifles - of historical interest and also used in period re-enactment.

Oooh, speaking of medieval type weaponry, my family has some very old, and very well used weapons that have been in my family since 700 a.d.

The oldest: a Long Sword, made of iron, dating back to 8th Century a.d.
A Two-Handed sword dating back to Mid 12th Century.
A pair of hand-axes dating to the late 13th Century
And a Claymore from the 15th century

The Claymore and hand-axes were used often by my ancestors who constantly waged a guerilla war against the English. The long sword was used a lot also, most likely against Vikings. The Two-Handed sword is well used as well, most likely in the little wars between clans.

We also have a very old shield bearing the family crest of the O Fearghaill line.

My family has a very violent history....heh...

Speaking of guns, my uncle in the US, a soldier in the US Army, who served in the Army Rangers for 16 years, has an AR-15 and an M-16, as well as a few pistols, All of which are from his days in El Salvador, Panama, Ethiopia, Honduras, Somalia, and Grenada.

But thats about the sum of it....
