Artificial Intelligence
When do you guys think that humanity will reach the point where we will be able to create a program that can feel emotions, see you, talk to you, express emotions, think. Sort of like the "Megaman" series that my bro's always watch.
Or do you guys think its possible at all?

Not really. Thats too abstract even for machines.
I doubt it; I dont really think a machine will ever be able to express human emotions.

It' quite unrealistic with current technology, or even technology in 10 years. However, it is theoretically possible.

How do you define emotion? Don't say "feelings" or any other synonym.

If it was possible, i'd get a friend like Bender....ah, good times, good times...
For those who don't know who Bender is, shame on you! ;)

Within 60 years.
Of course, including reference to "emotion" raises a whole host of other questions, including what emotion is, whether non-sentient beings can experience it, whether non-living beings can experience it, whether it is just an emergent property of a bunch of neurons or something rooted in an immortal soul, etc. etc.

We already did. Its still primitive but real experiments are going on with emotional descision making, partially for the personal relations example you gave, but more realistically, for enhanced autonomous function, especially in a combat role where gaining predjudices or "emotional scars" as well as a sense of anger against a target can work extremely well in self-preservation of the machine. Other examples will include avionics which is emotionally "responsive" to the forces and behaviour of the aircraft, IOW, making an intelligent aircraft that can "feel" pain and will avoid overextending itself.
