No. Never have, never will. Both my parents smoked. Much of my family smokes. I've had quite a few friends who smoke(d). I've seen the effects of it firsthand (and experienced them secondhand). It was never even a question for me.

don't worry non-smokers. :D
The darwinian theory thing means that in a few hundred years smoking will die out because:
a.) they become impudent
b.) the children they do have carry the same genes which make them thick enough to start smoking and then they become impudent etc. and so the number of smokers dwindle ;)

Smoke a pipe, about three times a week. Started when I was 18. Don't smoke cigarettes but will smoke the odd cigar on a special occasion.

no, and I never will. it's a sickening habit, and when I see people smoke, it makes me a bit angry at them.

my parents both smoke though  morons.

it gets me mad when they say, "I can't give you your school fees right now, because we're broke right now."

then, an hour later, they go buy cigarettes.

so... to them, smoking > child's education.

i'm 13 right now, so I didn't vote.

Oh well done, you can use emoticons.
People don't smoke because they're thick- they do it originally for a variety of reasons- stress/boredom/curiosity/even the over-played peer pressure card. But they continue because it is more addictive then heroin, not because they don't understand health risks.
It's like calling alcoholics morons because they shouldn't have drunk in the first place

silly question here

is it really worth all the money you spend on it

say a pack a day in the uk thats 4 pounds a day
times 365
is 1460 pounds a year
is it worth spending all that money on something that will ultimatly kill you or at least impead on your quality of life.

sorry but i do find the whole idea of smoking retarded

Too bad smoking is not genetic, so your theory is moot.

btw, the things I smoke you don't buy in stores...but I'm guessing that's not what this poll is asking. So I voted No.

First, I would like to point out that smoking cigars does not count. Simple reason being that you do not inhale a cigar. If you are inhaling a cigar, then someone forgot to teach you what cigars are for. They are merely for the look and the taste.

Second, I have been smoking since I was 12, about 6 years now, and I can gurantee you I'm still in better shape than 95% of you non-smokers. Granted, its harder to get in shape, but once you are then there is no difference. That would be why I can run cross-country, play football, hockey, and basketball, and still go out and smoke before and after a game.

Third, I don't think that Theredlemming knows what the word impudent means. Impudent means rude, saucy, or disrespectful. None of those terms has any effect on the continuation of a person's life, although they may lose their job. Not to mention that there is no reference to cigarettes causing "impudence." I suppose he meant impotence, but that is untrue. I'm not arguing that cigarettes aren't bad for you, but I will say that the bad effects can be defeated. My grandfather smoked for 40 years, and had 3 kids. Obviously he wasn't impotent. Not to mention that he died of prostate cancer, which is totally unrelated to smoking. Not lung cancer, but prostate cancer. So I'll keep smoking because I'm gonna die anyways, and I might as well die happy.

How so? Perhaps if you inhaled, but that's not how you smoke a cigar. I suppose if I started smoking a bunch every day I could get mouth cancer, but a couple cigars a week isn't going to hurt anyone.

I've been smoking for over 10 years now. I've tried to quit, but then I hear this sermon from people who are anti-smoking about how smoking is a filthy habit and anyone who smokes is endangering the health of those around them, and I can't suppress the urge to light up after the diatribe, in the hopes that I can do some damage to people who give me unsolicited advice on how to live my life.

This is especially true when it is someone who benefits directly from my habit. You know, anyone who gets a free public education, or drives on the roads, or sends mail, or draws welfare, or holds a government job. Nothing would please me more than to see all the smokers quit, and for all of those people to lose one of the most lucrative sources of tax money there is. THEN someone would have to think up something else to tax the shit out of, to take up the slack. I wonder what they'd hit? Maybe alcohol...or soda...or gas.

I hope that wish comes true. Enjoy.

I dont know how to quote but...

Gas is already taxxed heavily by the government. Did you know that the gas company only get 2p a litre from gas and the rest is tax. Well thats what it's like in the UK atleast. I dont personally benifit from tax I go to a private school I go to the NHS (it isn't too good any way) I'm 12 we don't get much from the government I only get one thing from the gov I don't smoke.

Please dont slag for my grammar/spelling.

Public schoolboy? You don't need the tax money, from what I gather. I'm surprised your folks can afford to send you to public school (UK definition) and yet you use the NHS. Surely they can manage BUPA or something like that.

O Flower of Scotland,
When will we see
Your like again,
That fought and died for,
Your wee bit Hill and Glen,
And stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.
The Hills are bare now,
And Autumn leaves
lie thick and still,
O'er land that is lost now,
Which those so dearly held,
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

Those days are past now,
And in the past
they must remain,
But we can still rise now,
And be the nation again,
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

A Scot is a Brit. You could say we will crush the English, but it doesn't have the same ring to it. We all know that Scots make the second best soldiers (next to Ulstermen, that is ;) )

Oh yeah and as for smoking, I have about 10 cigars a year... and the occasional joint, so for all purposes I'm a non-smoker.

Tobacco, a few times a week, when bored. Maybe half a pack a week.

Weed, once or twice a month...well, I was like that. I went about 4 months without until recently.
