How fast do you guys run 3 miles?
Erm...it's 3 miles because that's how long out Cross Country races are...
My best times are:
23:50
22:58
22:15
The coach said my 1st mile time on that last run was around 6:30ish...

Only time I've run 3 miles/5K: 27:39
1st mile was like +/-8 minutes, the 2nd was +/- 9, and 3rd was +/- 10
depends on who (or what) is chasing me.

28-30 minutes at my "peak." It's been way too long since I've done any serious running though, so probably at least 35 now. *sigh*
I've never tried. But I'm going to guess not very fast. ~_~;;

I'm a runner so, my times will be better.
When I'm not injured, like I have been this year, I can run anywhere from 16:30 on a very good day, to a 18:30 on a tempo pace. This year, injured badly enough to end my season eventually, I ran an average 19.5-20.5 minutes. My best mile ever was in freshman year (I was the 4th ranked freshman in the league) where I ran a 4:45 for the first mile of a race, then suffered what appears to be a career-ending injury at the end of said race, as I've never been able to run without pain again. Sophmore year I ran 3 races, never healthy, although I was winning the league's sophmore race until my legs cramped up badly enough that I had to drop out. This year I've been injured the entire season, only been able to race two, maybe three times, at about the same pace, I've never gotten to where I should be based on my freshman pace.
Tremalkier: Cross Country should have been extraordinaire, and freshman award winner turned upper classman injury disaster.
EDIT: No offense fellas, but when people say this site is largely filled with unathletic folks...I can't say they are off by much. I mean, perhaps some people just aren't runners, but I ran a 5:58 mile as an 8th grader, and that wasn't even the best in the class.
So we've shown that nobody here can run that well, any hockey players, lacrosse even?
*Suits up*
Woot woot! You can't touch this!

I used to run cross country, before I started playing football. My best run was 18:32. Not bad, but there were some people on the team far better than me. One kid ran a 15:17. Pretty goddamn good. My normal run was closer to 20 minutes, the 18 minute run was very unusual.

About 27 minutes for 3 miles here, last summer anyway, but that's an average off 13 miles, a half marathon. I should start running again, it's healthy.

And yes I quit cross country for football, because contact sports are more fun. And I liked working out my upper body. Best part of football was last year when I hit a reciever perfectly in the small of his back right after he caught the ball. He didn't even see me coming. He dropped the ball when I hit him, I picked it up, and scored a touchdown. Only problem was I knocked him unconscious from the whiplash, and he had to wear a neckbrace. Felt kinda bad, but I'm not that big, so I didn't think I'd hit him that hard.

It helps if you get half an hour of PT for falling out of a run. Of course, that was only early on. Most of the corps runs we did at school (all about 3 miles) were PAINFULLY slow, about 45 min. at least. You could walk parts of it and stay in formation.

I am in 10th grade.
I ran a 2.7 mile road race in 16:07 last year, but that was on a mostly downhill course. This year I ran 16:40.7 and 16:46 2.7 mile races on the same cross country course and came in 6th and 3rd for the races respectively. I ran 3 miles in 17:41 on another course. I did a 4.4 mile road race in 26:52. Last year my best mile times were 5:23 and 5:20, and they will definately improve this year.

Heh, agreed. Not that I was anything remotely above mediocre in CC, but as I recall, my best time for a 3 mile was a 20:58. Now, after I trained up in college CC, I probably could have done better, since those are 5 milers. Haven't run a timed three since HS. I quit CC last year 'cause I got sick of formal practices and started to hate running.
Think I'll go run 3 now. I say I'm a recovering runner, but I lie...I have no intention of recovering. ;)

When I was in the school cross country team, oh, about ten years ago, the various courses were somewhat irregularly lengthed. Anything from 2-4 miles, so I had times of anyhting from 11-35 minutes depending on the course. I wasn't ever the best, much to my annoyance, although I won a trophy once for consistant performance.
Finishing in the top 10 out of 100 or so runners was a big achievement for me. I think 3/108 was my best result. After that I was ruined, ruined I tell you, by a chest infection. The last race I ran, I finished 68th. :(

How, you've got no legs. Remember?
I know boys that will run it in 15 and girls that will do it in 17. My HS takes state in UT 3A more often than not (and Utah has good CC teams belive it or not) and the university I attend is a 1AA running powerhouse. Took the Mid-Con in Track and Field, indoor and out, and cross country last year. I don't know how you people do this, running just isn't fun (at least nothing over 100m). You all have my respect.
