Humorous story....

"It's absolutely one of the worst things I've ever seen." That's how Democratic State Representative Craig Fitzhugh describes a flier currently floating around Lauderdale and Dyer counties.

It reads "voting for Bush is like running in the Special Olympics, even if you win, you're still retarded."

The flier also features Bush's head superimposed onto the body of a special olympian. Fitzhugh's rival, Republican Dave Dahl, is equally outraged.

"I mean, they can portray the President any way in caricature and that's fine," says Dahl.

"However, picking on a mentally challenged boy and the Special Olympics, that's just not good," he adds.

Dahl believes local Democrats are to blame, but Representative Fitzhugh points the finger right back at Republicans.

"I want to tell you unequivocally that I had nothing to do with it, I abhor it," says Fitzhugh.

The fliers first went up at the Lauderdale County Democratic Party HQ. Volunteers say a man walked in and placed the fliers on a table. After getting a closer look, one of them says he picked up the fliers and threw them into the trash. Dave Dahl doesn't buy it and says the burden of proof lies with his opponent.

"He needs to say that they were in my headquarters, don't know how they got there, but I'm sorry for anyone they offended," says Dahl. Fitzhugh says the fliers were planted there and this time dirty politics have gone too far.

"There have been threats to my family and I'm awfully upset about it," says Fitzhugh.

We may never know who's really responsible for these fliers, and the real issues may continue to take a backseat. We're told several copies of the flier have been sent to different groups including Special Olympics International.

All seems to be fair if you're trying to discredit someone. Including it seems, setting things up to make it look as if someone is using dirty tricks to discredit you.

If this is true, I don't believe any of the parties concerned. They're all a pack of liars. Doesn't really matter who's at fault here.

The reports about this flyer I have read all say that the original was sent out by the Democrats. Fascinating!

Big whoop!

Somebody did a crapy job imposing the shrubs head on a "mentally disabled" kid.

Where was all this outrage when the original was created?

It is a downs kid and the original message said:

"Arguing on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics. You may win but you are still retarded."

Nothing was said but change it into a political comment against the shrub and everybody is horrified.

"How can you make fun of the retarded people?!?!?!?!"

Hypocracy at it's best!

We have Republicans proclaiming that Democrats will ban the Bible if elected.

We have Democrats suggesting that anyone who votes for Bush is retarded.

Is there no low to which these two parties will not sink?

Plagiarism, in this case. That particular message has been circulating the intarweb for many years. Except it was about arguing online.

Or at least a lack of imagination.

I want to see it go lower. I want Bush to say "I have a Texas sized log, my opponent is a fully functional presurgery transvestite!"

Kerry will then counter with "My opponent dresses as a gimp while Laura, Condie and Dick's gay lesbian daughter have sex. But I have a plan for my sex change surgery!"
