Very interesting.
My mum hates the Ancient Romans, because they destroyed the culture of every land they conquered and overran. They were technologically brilliant but, in Britain, for example, they destroyed a forward thinking society which valued the contribution of women. Everywhere they went they forced their ideals on everyone else.
Also very interesting.

Glad you liked it. Honestly, when I first read it, I thought it was about the U.S. I thought Mark Antony was Douglas MacArthur, the "evil, crippled, malformed old man" was Franklin Roosevelt, Cincinnatus was George Washington, Cicero was Joe McCarthy, etc. (of course, that's what Ms. Caldwell wanted the reader to think)
