Anyone in an Interracial relationships? I am dating a beautiful smart and kindhearted Filipina. Her name is Rocelin and she is my other half. We've been dating for a year and half now. Here is her picture.

I most certainly would like to be in one...with a few people in mind...:p
I'm multiracial.
I guess whatever happens, I'll end up in an interracial relationship. :)
I dated a native girl once in high school. Liked her a lot.
Although I have nothing against people of other races or cultures, I tend to date within my race. This is not because I haven't wanted to on different occasions, but I find that occasionally people of other races don't find white people as attractive.
Kudos to anybody who has broken the racial barrier, and double kudos if you have managed to convince your family that its a good thing.
I'd consider it, if for no other reason than to see how long it takes my grandmother to disown me. Seriously, I'm yet to be interested in a person who is a different race. Time will tell.
Something interesting, I grew up in Hawaii, where fully 20% of the population is multiracial. The largest ethnic group, Asian, is just over 50% (this includes the mixed races). Pure Asians are much less. Just about every race could be considered a minority.
Interracial dating is a fact of life in Hawaii. No one thinks twice.

I think its really only the base trailer camp white trash people who oppose inter-'racial' dating/marriage in the US.

Not being funny, but why is the difference an issue? Does it bother you, so it's on your mind enough to ask other people what they think? Maybe I'm being idealistic, but if you're with someone for the right reasons, should their race even occur to you on a regular basis?

I'm a gentile from North Carolina.
My girlfriend is a Jew from New Jersey.
We've been dating for almost a year, and my grandparents still don't know her religion.
Not really interracial. Intercultural, definitely.

Nah, that's old-fashioned. Nowadays it's gay marriage. Oh, yeah...that's evil. ;)

I'm just questioning what made him decide to post it in here. I'm wondering why it was so prominent in his thoughts that she was a different race from him. Maybe he should examine his motives and reasons for being with this girl, because although he describes her as "beautiful smart and kindhearted", but due to the nature of the post, focuses on her nationality, but states that it is a race. (BTW, Filipino is a nationality, not a race, although it's a point open to debate.)
Its called reading into something that doesn't matter.

To make a long story short, yeah, her race shouldn't have anything to do with how he feels for her.

Umm, you are aware that everything on this forum is controversial, right? I could say the Sun rises in the East and some bozo here would flame me.

I'm part Filipino. I've always considered it a race, at least. It is definately considered a race in Hawaii, which has a very large Filipino population. But races and such are inherently arbitrary. Is Spanish different from French? Is Chinese different from Korean? All arbitrary lines in the sand. To be honest, I don't identify with any of my races.

What we need, imho, is a big old melting pot, that would have to be just about big enough to take the world and all it's got. Y'know?

Interracial? You mean with dogs and monkeys?
Or are you referring to the, so called, human "races"?
While only one human race exists.

yeah yeah yeah there's only one human race and mongoloid, negroid and caucasoid are social constructs bla bla. This is a mildly interesting point for about 3 minutes but doesn't actually help very much in terms of human experience of being human.
I've actually never dated within "my own race"...

There's a big difference if you meet someone from another 'race' who grew up in your culture or if you go over there and meet her in her culture. a lot more problems arise if you're the one with the 'other' race ;)

Interracial relationships are often more difficult to manage, primarily due to the prejudices of others and cultural differences. A very good friend of mine in college was getting very serious about a girl of a different race he was dating at the time. He asked me what I thought about this and I told him that, as long as both of them understood that there would be considerable social pressure on their relationship ( this was in the '60s ) and took that into consideration, they would probably have as much of a chance as any other couple of a lasting relationship.
They decided to get married and the last I heard ( about 10 years ago ) they were doing just fine. :)

I've dated the whole rainbow, but there are certain people who date outside their race for the wrong reasons. A lot of black guys date white girls just to piss people off.

I think there's nothing wrong with interracial relationships. Thankfully, more and more people are accepting them as normal. In fact, it's good for the human species to keep a healthy mix of genes all around.
However, culture is more of a barrier, especially when it comes to raising children. And this has nothing to do with race, since two black people, or white, or yellow, or whatever, can come from very different cultures and social backgrounds. Issues like religion, tradition and customs will still be important.

Agreed. Won't it be great when we no longer feel the need to even discuss a topic like this? :)

I'm white and my girlfriend is black and I've had the same experience- we get 'looks' from whites and blacks but so far the most virulent reaction has come from black males, so far.

I think that everyone would sincerely like what you just implied to be the case, but in the real world it doesn't matter if you believe that the person you are in an inter-racial relationship with is the person you were meant to spend the rest of you life with, the fact that they are of another race, and what the effects of that will be will always cross you mind. in some people more often then not. Nobody is that unbiased as to be in one and never think about it.
