US Elections: buy my vote

I really could care less for who's gonna win or lose the US election. Neither do my friends. So if you want to buy my vote, i'm gonna sell it for $5. If there are multiple buyers, i'll put it on eBay. I could really use the money, so please consider giving me more than just $5.

PS: none of my friends care either. Perhaps we can arrange a deal where we sell multiple votes with discounts.

The last guy who did that got arrested.

The last guy who did that got arrested.

Haha. Seriously?! How exactly do you think they're gonna search this 'crime'? Prevent it? Do you believe it has a priority somehow? Do you like it your tax money is spend on this?

The statistics: just how many % got caught really? What's the chance of being caught?

Sorry but using plain logic, it just ain't looking bright. Lots of people simply don't care for politics, for various reasons. They'd just sell their vote, but perhaps for more than just $5 or for other things than money.

PS: 'last guy' sounds quite funny. Yeah if its illegal the last guy got arrested just like the last guy who drunk alcohol got arrested. In the 20s, 30s... IOW, doesn't say a hell of lot ;)

It's illegal. They're trying to arrest Moore for supposedly buying votes (even though he isn't).

well, this particular dumbass that I am talking about actually listed it on ebay. If he had just made some sort of private arrangement then he wouldnt be caught. The guy didnt know it was illegal to exchange your vote for anything of value. I wonder if that makes it okay or not for two people to place bets for their votes?

google it if you like.

edit: I think it happened last week or the week before

edit2: its a federal crime btw.

Hmm, this thread has a smell to it.
Could it be???
Yeap, smells like shit! :gundge:

Are you even old enough to vote? :p

If you belong to the 'Whatever' generation, then by all means, do 'Whatever' with your vote. Just don't try to pawn your crap here anymore. Take it to ebay. :D

This is exactly my point. How are you gonna detect this? Quite hard i'd say, and it would cost a damn lot of money to secure such. I cannot proof it is happening though which makes it harder to argue.

Just one example. When i went to college, i got all this nice stuff at the introduction day. A nice word from the rector, a nice pen, nice pin, blablabla. Did i need it? Nah. But it made them look better, yes, and it certainly was part of convincing me. Ofcourse i later went to a better school as i got more smarter ;) but thats besides the point. Did they 'bought' us (they gave this en masse) out that time? Hard to say IMO, but its stuff like this which happens in at elections, too -- at least here...

I wonder if that makes it okay or not for two people to place bets for their votes?

What do you exactly mean?

PS: For the sake of clarity 1) i'd be more than old enough to vote 2) i would not be allowed to vote because i'm not from the USA. Acting like i am is needed for the discussion though.

You had a good start, then it went to healty.
He needs to buy double Big Macs, and go large fries. He does not need a home gym, and he should eat lot's of nut enriched ice cream and pies for desert.

well two people bet on something and the loser has to vote the way the winner wants. Nothing of value is exchanged for the vote so it should be legal.

Yeah, this is illegal, and I'd really rather you not use these forums as a medium to do such business. Thanks.
