Music sounds nice for a combination of reasons, most of which involving you have been taught that it sounds nice. Music in any culture is based off some variation of a pentatonic scale that closely resembles the overtone structure of the voice. It doesn't take much to imagine where the notion of rhythm comes from...the variations beyond that have involved training your ear and creating expectation from what you hear.

John Cage explored this notion by seeing if he could create music out of the anticipation of music with pieces like 4'33'' where a pianist would sit at the piano for that long and then get up without playing a note. What happens is the anticipation of music, so that the hall became the music; people shuffling, chairs creeking, etc.

This is so ingrained that little things like tritones would drive people crazy (the famed 'diablous en musica' or devil's chord) until people became accustomed to them. It's also why music that seems chacophonious to you sounds harmonious to other cultures.

Bah beards are nothing compared to afros, women will flock from miles around to pet it and play with it, it's incredible how much of a magnet it is to people. It's actually kind of annoying sometimes.
