75 Reasons To Hate Bush
1. The national debt under Bush has increased so drastically that the average American’s estimated share of the national debt will be an astronomical $24,000.
2. Under Bush Jr. there are now 43 million Americans with no health insurance.
3. Responsible for an unemployment rate of 6% there are now 9 million people out of work.
4. He cut healthcare benefits for veterans.
5. Bush deserted his unit during Vietnam and was reportedly AWOL for over a year from his assigned unit: the Texas Air National Guard, or as it’s nicknamed “The Champagne Division”.
6. Despite a 13% unemployment rate among those aged 16-24, Bush Jr. proposed to eliminate youth opportunity grants – a program that provides job training to the nation’s youth. A $225 million program is now being done away with so Bush can have more money for Iraq.
7. He cut funding for 375,000 low-income college students and reduced Pell Grant amounts so severely that it caused 84,000 students to no longer be eligible for Pell Grants. Pell amounts overall have been reduced for 4.5 million… It’s safe to say this won’t affect the Bush twins or anyone Bush knows.
8. He withdrew from the International Criminal Court. No American soldier can be charged with war crimes such as the torture in Abu Grhaib.
9. First president in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors.
10. All-time U.S. (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations from companies like Enron.
11. He proposed “free trade” agreements that would result in the loss of U.S. jobs due to foreign markets and the exploitation of third world workers.
12. John Ashcroft.
13. He has taken 11 official executive actions to undermine reproductive rights.
14. Failed to fulfill pledge to get Osama Bin Laden “dead or alive”. And at this point “doesn’t know where he is and doesn’t care” and “it isn’t really a priority”.
15. Wasted federal resources on a PR trip to Baghdad where he staged a Thanksgiving meal at 6 AM with troops that were screened based on their political affiliation. And the turkey? It was a prop.
16. His refusal to fire – or even reprimand – Lt. General Jerry “Our God Is Bigger Than Their God” Boykin. Perhaps it’s because Boykin said of the president, “George Bush was not elected by a majority of voters in the United States because he was appointed by God. He’s in the Whitehouse because God put him there.”
17. After killing 1,000+ American troops in an unprovoked and unjust war, he still has yet to attend a single soldier’s funeral.
18. His shameless nepotism for the rich and powerful. Elizabeth Cheney (Dick Head’s daughter) got hooked up with a cool gig at the State Department where she was in charge of $129 Million Middle East partnership initiative and then was moved over to Daddy and Uncle Dubya’s campaign payroll.
19. He dropped his dog on its head.
20. Bush was the first president in U.S. history to enter with a criminal record. Especially with a charge like possession of cocaine.
21. Bush has set the all-time record for most people to simultaneously protest a leader (10 million people), shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind.
22. He slashed funding to the Violence Against Women Act.
23. He has invaded and continues to occupy two countries at the continuing cost of $1,000,000,000 per week.
24. He appointed Charles Pickering, a notorious segregationist from Mississippi, as a federal judge and suspiciously did so on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
25. Bush has spent over $120 billion on Iraq, leaving his states to face the largest budget crisis in decades and forced to cut off public services; now with the federal deficit at a new high Bush wants to cut taxes to the top 1% of the richest people in America who pay 17.6% of the nation’s income taxes.
26. Under new Bush legislation “The Clear Skies Initiative”, power plants are now allowed to emit triple the amount of highly toxic mercury into the environment.
27. Bush Jr. has failed to protect 3 million acres of the Tongass National Forrest from logging. The Tongass has the highest concentration of bald eagles on Earth. Not even the sanctity of America’s national bird can compete with Bush Campaign contributions provided by the forest industries.
28. He has taken more vacation time than any president in history, including a 28-day vacation right before 9/11. Bush has taken more than 6 months of vacation off in total… Do you know anyone who gets 6 months off on vacation?
29. He pulled out of the Kyoto Agreement on Global Warming, which had been agreed on by 178 other countries to try and end global warming. Without the U.S.’s support, who creates 25% of the world’s pollution, the organization will surely fail. He also told the entire European community that he would listen to their arguments, but he would not change his mind, effectively treating Europe like an 8-year-old child. This may have something to do with why most of the world hates the US.
30. Fundamentalist Pat Robertson who claims that God told him Bush will be re-elected and that “It doesn’t matter what Bush does because God is blessing him” endorses Bush Jr. Bush keeps some great company but remember, Robertson was the jackass who blamed 9/11 on gays and suggested we “nuke” the U.S. State Department.
31. He set the record for most executions by any governor in American history. 152 in total; some of whom were mentally disabled.
32. Repeatedly stonewalled the public investigation into 9/11
33. Bush Jr. has failed to fully fund the AIDS initiative after promising to do so. The final cuts that resulted were over $2 billion
34. He still believes homosexuals are “sinners” and is doing everything in his power to forbid gay partnerships and deny fundamental civil rights to them on a national and local level.
35. Choked on a pretzel and nearly died while he was seated in front of the TV.
36. Bush has gone to great lengths to prevent investigations of his friends at Enron and Halliburton, more time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip-offs in history.
37. Bush has set the record for the fewest amounts of press conferences by a president since the invention of television.
38. He’s responsible for a $521 billion budget deficit – less than 4 years after inheriting a 200 billion dollar surplus.
39. He has made repeated attempts to legalize oil drilling in the National Wildlife Refuge.
40. He cut a half a BILLION dollars from the Environmental Protection Agency' s budget. Who needs to look after the environment when there's all that oil drilling going on?
41. He approved a bill that denies financial aid to students convicted of misdemeanor drug charges (though convicted murderers are still eligible for financial aid).
42. He recently sent a delegation to the UN children' s summit to declare that the use of condoms is not a valid way to fight AIDS and that abstinence is the only solution. This is the view shared by some other countries such as Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Libya, Syria, and the Vatican. It seems that his policy of, "No child shall be left behind" has a whole new meaning.
43. He rejected an international accord to enforce the 1972 treaty banning germ warfare. Of course that would mean that the US would have to stop producing biological agents too.
44. And talk about the fox watching over the hen house, he nominated former mining company executive Dan Lauriski as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health.
45. He allocated only 3% of the amount requested by Justice Department lawyers in the governments continued litigation against tobacco companies.
46. He prohibited any financial aid from going to international family planning organizations that provide abortion counseling, referrals, or services with their own funds.
47. He provided every member of the Bin Laden family living in the U.S. a chartered plane shortly after 9/11 to fly back home to Saudi Arabia without questioning them. One of GW' s first petroleum ventures was partnered with the Bin Laden family and George Sr. has been getting filthy rich selling defense contracts to the Bin Ladens. These are just some examples of the many ties the Bush family has with the Bin Ladens.
48. He officially withdrew from the 1972 Antiballistic Missile Treaty, gutting the landmark agreement-the first time in the nuclear era that the US renounced a major arms control accord.
49. Refused to join 123 nations pledged to ban the use and production of anti-personnel bombs and mines, February 2001
50. September 2001: withdrew from International Conference on Racism, bringing together 163 countries in Durban, South Africa
51. Over the past 10 years, the US prison population has more than doubled. This is mainly due to unfair three strikes laws, and harsher drug penalties. OK so maybe W. wasn' t behind this one, but the Republicans are.
52. International Plan for Cleaner Energy: G-8 group of industrial nations (US, Canada, Japan, Russia, Germany, France, Italy, UK), July 2001: the US was the only one to oppose it.
53. George replied, "Ken who?" when asked about his relationship with Kenneth Lay, the CEO of Enron, during the federal bankruptcy hearings. This was after Enron gave him their company jet to use for his presidential campaign. George and Kenny were such good friends that Ken was actually seen giving wedgies to the president in the oval office. Yet he still replied, "Ken who?"
54. He refused to buy adequate body armor for our troops in Iraq. A study done by a defense consultant reveals that approximately 25% of the casualties could have been prevented with better armor.
55. Responsible for the highest U.S. trade deficit EVER: $43.1 billion dollars.
56. Bush Jr. gave his campaign contributors and the strongest supporters $8 billion in contracts to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan. Corporations like Halliburton, Bechtel, Kellogg, Brown & Root, etc. Numerous scandals have been uncovered regarding these “friendly” contractors who are ripping off U.S. taxpayers.
57. Bush campaign Shirts were made in Burma under sweatshop conditions. Interestingly though, Bush Jr. signed legislation banning products from Burma effective September 1st, 2003.
58. He approved a sale of $20 million worth of shackles, electro-shock technology, and other torture devices that have been condemned for torture.
59. College tuition has increased 28% under the Bush administration.
60. Over 60 influential scientists, including 20 Nobel Prize winners, told Bush that they are “Deliberately and systematically distorting scientific facts – in the service of policy goals on the environment, health, biomedical research, and nuclear weaponry at home and abroad.”
61. Bush Jr. authorized the use of cluster bombs and “Daisy Clusters” (the world’s biggest non-nuclear bomb) in populated areas of Iraq. These have contributed to the deaths of over 10,000 innocent civilians, more than three times the number of casualties suffered in the tragic 9/11 attacks. Note: NO Iraqis were involved in the 9-11 attacks.
62. He proposed a budget that would slash 40% of the funding for after-school programs. No child left behind? This would cut off about 475,000 children.
63. According to The 9/11 Commission Report Richard Clarke (Chief Anti-Terrorism Advisor) and Paul O’Neill (U.S. Treasury Secretary) both testified that Bush was intent on invading Iraq within the first few days of his Presidency. Clarke claims that Bush Jr. ignored his warnings about an imminent al Qaeda attack. On September 12th, Bush instructed his staff to find a connection between al Qaeda and Iraq, and despite no connection ever being discovered (and against the CIA’s recommendation), he still chose to invade Iraq.
64. Although he still claims that fighting terrorism is his main priority, Bush Jr. slashed the FBI’s requested counterterrorism budget by 67%.
65. He has made it clear that in his next term he plans to appoint Supreme Court Judges who are against a woman’s right to choose.
66. Michael Powell (son of Colin Powell) is head of the FCC and has strong ties to major media corporations and the Bush administration continues to steer the public from knowing about casualties. He has done even less to acknowledge the over 18,000 troops that have been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.
67. In an effort to give the appearance that Bush Jr. was creating more jobs, his administration tried to reclassify fast food employment as manufacturing jobs. These minimum wage jobs are nothing like real manufacturing jobs that provide benefits and pay $15/hour.
68. His administration illegally produced fake pro-Bush “news” spots for the Dept. of Health and Human Services. They went so far as to include phony journalists who praise Dubya’s controversial Medicare Bill and they added a fake crowd to cheer the whole thing on.
69. Bush proposed the highest penalties in the world for indecency violations on our public airwaves. Up to $500,000 for saying something the FCC deems offensive.
70. He is a religious fanatic that believes in the apocalypse and that ONLY Evangelical Christians are eligible for the afterlife. Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and everyone that isn’t in Bush’s flock are all doomed to Hell. To see the full extent of his extremist views watch the PBS documentary “The Jesus Factor” http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/jesus/
71. The Treasury Department under Bush assigned five times as many agents to investigate Cuban embargo violations as they did to track Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein’s financial resources.
72. Right before Christmas Bush cut overtime pay for over 644,000 employees who work over 40 hours a week. The Bush overtime pay take-away would save employers billions--right from workers' paychecks.
73. Against Colin Powell’s advice, Bush Jr. chose not to recognize Afghanistan’s statehood, therefore making it’s people not protected by International Law and vulnerable to human rights abuses and torture. Up until that decision by Bush, the U.S. Military could boast a proud history of upholding the humane laws of the Geneva Convention.
74. The ironically named “Healthy Forests Initiative” allows logging companies (who are large donators to the Bush-Cheney Campaign) to log large areas of California forests in the name of “saving them from wildfires”.
75. Do I really need a 75th reason?

i think it needs to be said considering the some 30,000 people killed in Afghanistan and Iraq
and how many would have died by now if he hadn't invaded?
thats like saying the American invasion of nazi Germany killed 1.5 million people - yes, it did - but in the long run more lives were saved

Do you know for a fact how many would have died had we not invaded Iraq? It's all hindsight. We can look back and say, "yeah, we had to take out Nazi Germany, no way around it." And we can look back and say, "Why the hell did we send 70,000 Americans to their deaths in Vietnam?"
You can't instantly compare Iraq to Nazi Germany anymore than you can instantly compare it to Vietnam.

Its too bad you dont realize that we arent getting rid of terrorists; were creating more. if youve learned anything from history its that ppl dont take kindly to being wrongfully invaded and occupied.
Do you really think we'll ever track down the last terrorist, in the last cave, in the last self-empowered country in the Middle East, shoot him, and blow out the barrel of the gun and say "few, im glad thats overwith"

Just admit it...you have not one single original thought. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to solving it. In your case, admitting you have no original thoughts would set you on the way to true individualism, instead of just blindly following your fellow "punks."

First of all, LBJ sent Americans to die in Vietnam, and it was 58,000 not 70,000.
Also, look what happened when we left Vietnam. How many South Vietnamese drowned trying to escape the brutality of the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong? How many Cambodians died in Communist "re-education" camps?
Better yet, how many Iranians, Iraqis and Kurds did Saddam Hussein's regime kill? How many mass graves have been found? (Answer: a lot.) How many rape and torture rooms were dismantled? (Answer: a lot.)
Saddam Hussein had to be taken out. 17 UN resolutions had demanded his disarmament and proof of it, and he failed to do so. Those resolutions also authorized UN members to enforce, so we did it.
Of course, if you're unhappy about it, we can always put Saddam Hussein back in power. However, you can be the one who explains why to all the dead Iraqis.

I always laugh when ppl like you ask wut i think about torture chambers in Iraq and i always respond "What do you think about the ones in America?"
for some reason ppl can say Saddam was terrible but look at the Bush Administration. They is mass sexual assault and torture spread throughout US prison camps, prisoners have no rights. 64,000 have been captured and held without warrent but only 600 have ever seen a judge for their "crimes"
Saddam was a terrible man, no doubt, but given the time Bush wouldnt fair too much better himself. And despite what Fox News tells you Saddam was relatively popular among the people they werent just oppressed peasents afraid to open their mouths for fear of torture and rape.

Where ever this guy gets his info from, you really shouldn't attack him for it. He's a Bush hater. So are many of the people on these forums. Nothing anyone ever says to them will change their mind.
Disputing any of the 75 (or 500) reasons would only take more effort than it's worth and cause the haters to respond with more.
Best thing to do is leave the thread, let it die a slow death as it fades into the 470+ pages of the past year.
1. The national debt under Bush has increased so drastically that the average American’s estimated share of the national debt will be an astronomical $24,000.
Its called 9-11, and the dot com bubble combined with a multi front war on terror.
2. Under Bush Jr. there are now 43 million Americans with no health insurance.
Alot of this is caused by stupid lawsuits brought by lawyers (like john kerry and edwards)
3. Responsible for an unemployment rate of 6% there are now 9 million people out of work.
See reply to 1
4. He cut healthcare benefits for veterans.
Uh, lets see the documentation, because I havent heard either "candidate" for the democrats say this yet...not even kennedy
5. Bush deserted his unit during Vietnam and was reportedly AWOL for over a year from his assigned unit: the Texas Air National Guard, or as it’s nicknamed “The Champagne Division”.
This is blatantly untrue and you know it. Look at all the trouble CBS is in with this. Try stating facts.
6. Despite a 13% unemployment rate among those aged 16-24, Bush Jr. proposed to eliminate youth opportunity grants – a program that provides job training to the nation’s youth. A $225 million program is now being done away with so Bush can have more money for Iraq.
Ya well screw the troops so we can employ children...is that what you are saying?
So pay for your OWN college. Why should I have to pay for it?
8. He withdrew from the International Criminal Court. No American soldier can be charged with war crimes such as the torture in Abu Grhaib.
Are you saying we cant punish our own? We have to let the world do it?
9. First president in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors.
Uh maybe because they tried to put a disbarred US judge in charge of it...and a very liberal one I may add
10. All-time U.S. (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations from companies like Enron.
OOOO the evil corporations that just happen to provide the jobs this country needs...sounds to me like they know who the man is to get the economy going. Enron...give me a break.
11. He proposed “free trade” agreements that would result in the loss of U.S. jobs due to foreign markets and the exploitation of third world workers.
All this talk about out sourcing and yet kerry's wifes company exports most of its jobs and know Kerry wants to outsource our medicine to Canada...
12. John Ashcroft
Edward Kennedy
13. He has taken 11 official executive actions to undermine reproductive rights.
Oh pardon him for rallying for life. Why should I pay for abortions when
A. I dont believe in them
B. Your azz wont wear a condom
14 Failed to fulfill pledge to get Osama Bin Laden “dead or alive”. And at this point “doesn’t know where he is and doesn’t care” and “it isn’t really a priority”.
if you believe that, I have some prime swamp land forsale in Florida.
15. Wasted federal resources on a PR trip to Baghdad where he staged a Thanksgiving meal at 6 AM with troops that were screened based on their political affiliation. And the turkey? It was a prop.
Kerry hasnt been to Baghdad at all, and John Edwards, He is a prop.
Are you saying that because he is a general in the army he is not entitled to his own religous beliefs? Are you actually going to persecute someone in this country for his religon? And these comments were said OFF DUTY, IN A CHURCH.
17. After killing 1,000+ American troops in an unprovoked and unjust war, he still has yet to attend a single soldier’s funeral.
Sorry son, he has a very large country to run. And Bush didnt kill anyone, Kerry did. Children, women and old men.
Well, she has to at least be qualified. Like nobody has ever used an "in" to get a job.
19. He dropped his dog on its head.
You were dropped on your head.
20. Bush was the first president in U.S. history to enter with a criminal record. Especially with a charge like possession of cocaine.
Ha! And Clinton never inhaled right. Get over it. The generation that was going to war in vietnam is now taking over. you would be hard pressed to find a person who never tried drugs. Looking at the John Kerrys Book from the 70's it looks like he did his share too.
21. Bush has set the all-time record for most people to simultaneously protest a leader (10 million people), shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind.
Interesting and who did that estimate CBS?
22. He slashed funding to the Violence Against Women Act.
We have a war on son...
23. He has invaded and continues to occupy two countries at the continuing cost of $1,000,000,000 per week.
Ya and one of those countries just had its very first election, and the other to follow shortly.
24. He appointed Charles Pickering, a notorious segregationist from Mississippi, as a federal judge and suspiciously did so on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
I believe those appointments need aproval...
This is a bold faced lie. Look it up.
26. Under new Bush legislation “The Clear Skies Initiative”, power plants are now allowed to emit triple the amount of highly toxic mercury into the environment.
Havent heard that one, I will have to look into it.
27. Bush Jr. has failed to protect 3 million acres of the Tongass National Forrest from logging. The Tongass has the highest concentration of bald eagles on Earth. Not even the sanctity of America’s national bird can compete with Bush Campaign contributions provided by the forest industries.
Please...you must not live in aforest fire zone huh?
28. He has taken more vacation time than any president in history, including a 28-day vacation right before 9/11. Bush has taken more than 6 months of vacation off in total… Do you know anyone who gets 6 months off on vacation?
Wow he acutally had 6 months off in 4 years? Holy crap he gets a week and a half a year? I get 3 weeks a year.
You guys are chasing ghosts with this global warming thing. The third world countries cand afford to fix it anyway.
State Department.
again you are picking on a religous preacher. he is entitled to have his beliefs and I fail to see what this has to do with the President.
31. He set the record for most executions by any governor in American history. 152 in total; some of whom were mentally disabled.
Hey, he upheld the law. And those mentally ill people, you know the ones that are people too and "should be treated like everyone else", I agree. They killed someone, follow the law.
32. Repeatedly stonewalled the public investigation into 9/11
Ahem...
33. Bush Jr. has failed to fully fund the AIDS initiative after promising to do so. The final cuts that resulted were over $2 billion
Ahem...
34. He still believes homosexuals are “sinners” and is doing everything in his power to forbid gay partnerships and deny fundamental civil rights to them on a national and local level
Again, he has not produced any legeslation to that effect and is allowed by the US constitution to have his own beliefs.
35. Choked on a pretzel and nearly died while he was seated in front of the TV.
And Bears poop in the woods.
36. Bush has gone to great lengths to prevent investigations of his friends at Enron and Halliburton, more time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip-offs in history.
Ha, get your facts straight. Clinton hired Halliburton too, so its not unheard of. And bush had not one iota of anything to do with lewinsky. That would be your cigar smoking mcdonalds eating walking heart attack.
37. Bush has set the record for the fewest amounts of press conferences by a president since the invention of television.
Yawns...he has better things to do.
38. He’s responsible for a $521 billion budget deficit – less than 4 years after inheriting a 200 billion dollar surplus.
Ya him, 9-11, the declining stock market 6 months before he took office (aka the dot com pop)
39. He has made repeated attempts to legalize oil drilling in the National Wildlife Refuge.
Hey you guys keep screaming get off arab oil...we try you bitch get off our oil.
40. He cut a half a BILLION dollars from the Environmental Protection Agency' s budget. Who needs to look after the environment when there's all that oil drilling going on?
See above.
41. He approved a bill that denies financial aid to students convicted of misdemeanor drug charges (though convicted murderers are still eligible for financial aid).
Damn, he should have cut them both. again, pay for your own college.
HA! You guys are really graspin for sht arent ya.
43. He rejected an international accord to enforce the 1972 treaty banning germ warfare. Of course that would mean that the US would have to stop producing biological agents too.
Well, according to you and your friends, we are the great satan.
44. And talk about the fox watching over the hen house, he nominated former mining company executive Dan Lauriski as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health.
Gee we wouldnt want someone with MINING experience involved in MINE SAFETY.
45. He allocated only 3% of the amount requested by Justice Department lawyers in the governments continued litigation against tobacco companies.
So dont smoke, that will fix that.
46. He prohibited any financial aid from going to international family planning organizations that provide abortion counseling, referrals, or services with their own funds.
that would be because not all people believe that way. Why should I pay for what I dont believe in.
Well it amazes me why this is so far down on the list. (May have something to do with it being BS) First, Bin Laden had not a whole hell of a lot to do with his family. We knew this. Those people werent safe here and you damn well know it. The Bin Laden family owns a construction company. Bin Laden was exiled from Saudi Arabia long before 9-11 and was offered up to Clinton who refused to take him.
48. He officially withdrew from the 1972 Antiballistic Missile Treaty, gutting the landmark agreement-the first time in the nuclear era that the US renounced a major arms control accord.
GOOD! we need to protect ourselves from missles. especailly now.
Any way the rest is probably bull and I dont want to finish this beacuse I am beat.

Choked on a pretzel and nearly died while he was seated in front of the TV." and "75. Do I really need a 75th reason?". This is pathetic. Another anti-Bush fanatic. While he is in comfort in the White House, and even if not there, his Texan ranch, you are wasting your time (even though your time is probably worthless already) posting this crap.
Be it noted to that the name "punkvote" obviously shows that this thread is not entirely credible. When wanting to ask about the truth of the candidates, ask a non-partisan political anaylist and(or) scientist, not some "punkvoter". Anyways, punk culture has never contributed to societies and never will.

reasons to be concerned about Bush
In the last debate, he clearly showed himself to be driven primarily by his ideaological beliefs, and cannot admit to a mistake (but can blame others)
His competence is open to question (based on a strategic judgement level) as he has involved the bulk of all available US ground troops in a ground campaign that may last years (and probably will) without justifiable strategic gain. Historians may judge this to be the worst mistake a Western Military leader has made since Churchill convinced the Allies that Italy was the soft underbelly of Europe (that campaign last nearly 3 years and had marginal impact on the overall war other than to keep a few German divisions busy)
The US Army at this time has NO significant strategic reserves available for commitment to any other theater of war without activating all National Guard divisions and retraining them for a year for combat operations. All available regular units are either deployed somewhere, readying for deployment, or just back from deployment.
Hmm, that is a problem isn't it for a wartime President
Bush is running on that fact that he is a wartime President so this is a big concern for me at least. The ethics and whys of the invasion of Iraq aside, it has not been demonstrably shown that the invasion of Iraq has affected world wide Moslem terrorist groups significantly. In fact, a number of commentators have made the case that it has increased the number of recruits.
On the plus side, killing them there is easier than hunting them down elsewhere. However, a similar arguement was made during the Vietnam War that it was better to fight the Commies on in Vietnam than at Golden Gate Bridge (that always seemed a bit unrealistic to me, but then again I was only 2 when we committed combat forces to Vietnam so I have to rely on history)
on the other hand
Kerry has shown himself to be a pragmitist, although he tends to focus on the current problem without necessarily demonstrating he is looking at the overall picture or long range effects. Hopefully I am wrong on this one, but should he win, I guess we will see.

Hmm a few points I need to make, but I do feel your summarization of the troop situation seems fairly accurate.
As for Bush being ideoligically driven and unable to admit mistakes, I didn't see it the same way you did. He honestly believes the decisions he made were correct, but the most telling part of that question's answer was when he said that if history judged he made a mistake, he is ready to accept that. Sort of the buck stops here type of mentality.
As to your assertion about terrorism... As Biff points out a lot of the time, it seems that the terrorists are concentrating themselves in Iraq... and it's a much smarter for us to fight them there, on our terms (as much as possible) than here on our own soil, isn't it?

Just admit it...you have not one single original thought. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to solving it. In your case, admitting you have no original thoughts would set you on the way to true individualism, instead of just blindly following your fellow "punks."
I just checked, and have found out that every word you used is in a big book called a 'Dictionary'. I guess this means you're also incapable of having any original thoughts yourself.
I guess this means also that you've never listened/believed anything you have ever been told/read, as that would mean not having 'original' thoughts if you did.
I take it you never read books, newspapers, watch TV or talk to anyone, out of fear that it may corrupt you into having the same thought another person's already had.
I just wish to applaud you on your logic that because someone posted a list from a source, it immediately 'proves' they have no original ideas and are incapable of independent thinking. Well done.

the terrorists concentrating in Iraq is hopefully true.. although maybe not based on what happened in Egypt this week. I guess we will see, and hopefully not the hard way. It gives me some hope that if that is true, my son who is about to finish USMC Boot Camp will, when sent to Iraq inevitably, accomplish something useful.
Friends and I were discussing today the debate. The consensus we had is that some would see his conviction as a good thing (stick to your guns school) and some would be concerned about his idealogy forcing him to stick to his guns whether he should reevaluate his policies or not.
either way, we find out in less than a month.

Punk officially died somewhere in the late 70's and early 80's. Now all we have is recycled shit where 22 year old frat boys who are more concerned with maintaining an image jump up and down with instruments they can't play singing about how the depressed and angry they are that their 48th girlfriend broke up with them, their dad won't buy them a new car on their birthday, and how the police won't let them party to their utmost potential.
If anything, a complaint coming from a punk source can safely be regarded as a compliment.
Do yourself a favor and listen to good music.
(Beatles, Zep, Floyd, Queen, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, Misfits/Danzig, etc.)
These are people who care enough about their music to overcome the great bother that we call "learning how to play your own instrument". They are also capable of writing lyrics above a 5th grade reading level.

How long are we gonna tap that well? Bush had his plan, it was supposed to accomplish something, he wasn't even close. But ya know, it's still someone elses fault even though they control both houses, executive and judicial. All that and they still fell short, because it's someone elses fault. Where's that accountability that was all the rage with Bush?
2. Under Bush Jr. there are now 43 million Americans with no health insurance.

Kerry was a prosecutor. You do know the difference, right? This 'blame the laywers' is the kind of reductive and eventually dangerous argument-essentially it's saying "All those people able to defend themselves against injury is what's killin' us, let's reduce thier ability to do that." Don't solve the problem, cut off peoples way of defending themselves against it. Brilliant.

"Billy broke it..."
4. He cut healthcare benefits for veterans.
Uh, lets see the documentation, because I havent heard either "candidate" for the democrats say this yet...not even kennedy
Actually, that claim has been made back in Feb., but it is misleading (http://factcheck.org/article.aspx@docID=144.html). I'd give you a cookie, but I had to go find it for you. No cookie.
Actually, all that's really been established is that we don't know what he did for some of that time. Either way, he took a cushie way out that would not have been available to him had he not been George Jr. Comparatively, he doesn't come up well.
I think s/he's saying that we shouldn't be in Iraq when Iraq wasn't a threat and wasn't the one who attacked us. Furthermore, I think you knew that and where trying to pull the ol' "Do you hate our troops" witchhuntism. You guys went to that well too often for it to work anymore. We are so for the troops that we do not feel that their lives should not be risked unneccisarily.
So pay for your OWN college. Why should I have to pay for it?
Here's why-Bush is also overseeing the reduction in manufacturing and labor jobs to reshape the American work force. How are we going to do that if people cannot afford the education neccisary? If you want the self determination that you call for with the reduction of the welfare state, then you have to provide a conduit for people to get thier eductation to fend for themselves. Thats just one of the reasons for assisting access to higher education.
8. He withdrew from the International Criminal Court. No American soldier can be charged with war crimes such as the torture in Abu Grhaib.
Are you saying we cant punish our own? We have to let the world do it?
Is there something we should be afraid of? Are we acting in a way in that might come home to roost? All the more reason to be concerned.
9. First president in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors.
Uh maybe because they tried to put a disbarred US judge in charge of it...and a very liberal one I may add
I don't know that it has ever come up before, or if any president would have allowed it, so I'll give it a pass.
10. All-time U.S. (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations from companies like Enron.
OOOO the evil corporations that just happen to provide the jobs this country needs...sounds to me like they know who the man is to get the economy going. Enron...give me a break.
Corporations, by design, cannot have your best intrests at heart. They are in fact a special intrest that is more concerned with exploiting you than anything else. You cannot trust the government to stand between the two of you (people and corporations) effectively if they are in the pocket of the latter. To be fair, this is a problem of both candidates, but Bush is the bigger whore in this catagory.
11. He proposed “free trade” agreements that would result in the loss of U.S. jobs due to foreign markets and the exploitation of third world workers.
All this talk about out sourcing and yet kerry's wifes company exports most of its jobs and know Kerry wants to outsource our medicine to Canada...
Nope. (http://factcheck.org/article.aspx@docID=224.html)
12. John Ashcroft
Edward Kennedy
One is appointed by Bush and is running ripshod. Kennedy, however, is NOT an appointee of Kerry's. Does not follow.
13. He has taken 11 official executive actions to undermine reproductive rights.
Oh pardon him for rallying for life. Why should I pay for abortions when
A. I dont believe in them
B. Your azz wont wear a condom
No one is asking you to pay for it. Just not to dictate whether others can have them. Either that or pony up to help raise the kids. One end or the other.
14 Failed to fulfill pledge to get Osama Bin Laden “dead or alive”. And at this point “doesn’t know where he is and doesn’t care” and “it isn’t really a priority”.
if you believe that, I have some prime swamp land forsale in Florida.
Except that those are actual Bush quotes.
I'm not sure how this refutes the point. You could have tried harder, since I thought this was weak-all presidents do photo/pr ops. Bush's are especially cheesy, but whatever.
Are you saying that because he is a general in the army he is not entitled to his own religous beliefs? Are you actually going to persecute someone in this country for his religon? And these comments were said OFF DUTY, IN A CHURCH.
We had a revolution to get away from the last George that thought he was appointed by god.
17. After killing 1,000+ American troops in an unprovoked and unjust war, he still has yet to attend a single soldier’s funeral.
Sorry son, he has a very large country to run. And Bush didnt kill anyone, Kerry did. Children, women and old men.
He can take time out to preside over a fake turkey, but he can't take time to pay respects to the people he sent off on his little crusade? Speaks to character. The Kerry comment.....Gymoor has the speeches laying around if you can't be bothered, but that's some lame ass rhetoric...
Well, she has to at least be qualified. Like nobody has ever used an "in" to get a job.
Does she? Was she? An 'in' at the pizza place is one thing, nepotism at this level is something else...
19. He dropped his dog on its head.
You were dropped on your head.
BWAAAAHAHHAAHA........haa.....ha.....
Yeah, that's just stupid. Doesn't matter if the initial comment wasn't a stroke of genuis.
You skipped over criminal record. Cocaine>weed.
21. Bush has set the all-time record for most people to simultaneously protest a leader (10 million people), shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind.
Interesting and who did that estimate CBS?
Nice. Way to bulldog onto that. Yeah, no-it was the largest protest in world history.
22. He slashed funding to the Violence Against Women Act.
We have a war on son...
We shouldn't, pop.
23. He has invaded and continues to occupy two countries at the continuing cost of $1,000,000,000 per week.
Ya and one of those countries just had its very first election, and the other to follow shortly.
Not technically true, and furthermore being altrustic about giving people elections isn't quite as important as actually making progress with the people actually responsable for the attack. Priorities, family grudges aren't a big one.
24. He appointed Charles Pickering, a notorious segregationist from Mississippi, as a federal judge and suspiciously did so on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
I believe those appointments need aproval...
Unless he does them while the senate is in recess.
This is a bold faced lie. Look it up.
He's even using the correct figure for the cost of the war, not what the Kerry campaign has been (they say $200 billion, which it may reach but hasn't yet). Seems like he has looked it up.
26. Under new Bush legislation “The Clear Skies Initiative”, power plants are now allowed to emit triple the amount of highly toxic mercury into the environment.
Havent heard that one, I will have to look into it.
Have fun.
27. Bush Jr. has failed to protect 3 million acres of the Tongass National Forrest from logging. The Tongass has the highest concentration of bald eagles on Earth. Not even the sanctity of America’s national bird can compete with Bush Campaign contributions provided by the forest industries.
Please...you must not live in aforest fire zone huh?
I live in Northern California and lived in a suburb of Oakland during that fire and when Berkeley was on fire. Preventing forest fires by getting rid of forests is a stupid idea.
All this special circumstances, war, presiding over a burst bubble and terror attacks and he takes more vacation? How serious is he about this stuff? How am I supposed to take him seriously?
You guys are chasing ghosts with this global warming thing. The third world countries cand afford to fix it anyway.
The sand can only keep your head so warm.
State Department.
again you are picking on a religous preacher. he is entitled to have his beliefs and I fail to see what this has to do with the President.
It is indicative. But least of the problem...so I'll just move on.
31. He set the record for most executions by any governor in American history. 152 in total; some of whom were mentally disabled.
Hey, he upheld the law. And those mentally ill people, you know the ones that are people too and "should be treated like everyone else", I agree. They killed someone, follow the law.
Except all those overturned cases...it's okay if it's not you I guess...
32. Repeatedly stonewalled the public investigation into 9/11
Ahem...
He did.
33. Bush Jr. has failed to fully fund the AIDS initiative after promising to do so. The final cuts that resulted were over $2 billion
Ahem...
I'll just assume that's conceding the point.
34. He still believes homosexuals are “sinners” and is doing everything in his power to forbid gay partnerships and deny fundamental civil rights to them on a national and local level
Again, he has not produced any legeslation to that effect and is allowed by the US constitution to have his own beliefs.
He tried to ammend the Constitution. Do you live in a cave?
35. Choked on a pretzel and nearly died while he was seated in front of the TV.
And Bears poop in the woods.
I have to agree that this is hardly a reason not to vote for someone.
Karl Rove and the republican party did, however. In essence, they are saying it is worth more to find out who's blowing the president than it is to find out who's fleecing america.
37. Bush has set the record for the fewest amounts of press conferences by a president since the invention of television.
Yawns...he has better things to do.
Like take vacations. What is he afraid of? Actual questions?
38. He’s responsible for a $521 billion budget deficit – less than 4 years after inheriting a 200 billion dollar surplus.
Ya him, 9-11, the declining stock market 6 months before he took office (aka the dot com pop)
Well's dry, son.
39. He has made repeated attempts to legalize oil drilling in the National Wildlife Refuge.
Hey you guys keep screaming get off arab oil...we try you bitch get off our oil.
Or, you know, use something else. Not buy something that gets 9 miles to the gallon to get groceries. Don't actually give incentives for people to do that (like having relaxed standards for SUVs and loopholes meant to allow farmers to buy equipment to be used by dentists to buy H2s...) But hey, if you saw things with depth and complexity, you wouldn't really be a Bush supporter.
40. He cut a half a BILLION dollars from the Environmental Protection Agency' s budget. Who needs to look after the environment when there's all that oil drilling going on?
See above.
Yes, do.
41. He approved a bill that denies financial aid to students convicted of misdemeanor drug charges (though convicted murderers are still eligible for financial aid).
Damn, he should have cut them both. again, pay for your own college.
Make a decision, pay for a little now or a lot later.
HA! You guys are really graspin for sht arent ya.
This is two steps above using leeches, it's backwards science and indicative of Bush's approach.
43. He rejected an international accord to enforce the 1972 treaty banning germ warfare. Of course that would mean that the US would have to stop producing biological agents too.
Well, according to you and your friends, we are the great satan.
I don't even know how this argument relates. I suspect you where getting tired. How can we take the moral high ground of taking out other nations weapons like germ warfare when we won't even agree to stop producing them ourselves?
44. And talk about the fox watching over the hen house, he nominated former mining company executive Dan Lauriski as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health.
Gee we wouldnt want someone with MINING experience involved in MINE SAFETY.
Unless he ends up looking out more for the companies than the workers.
45. He allocated only 3% of the amount requested by Justice Department lawyers in the governments continued litigation against tobacco companies.
So dont smoke, that will fix that.
Ugh. It's an industry that does way more harm than good and will lie...oh nevermind....really should get cable or something in that cave of yours.
46. He prohibited any financial aid from going to international family planning organizations that provide abortion counseling, referrals, or services with their own funds.
that would be because not all people believe that way. Why should I pay for what I dont believe in.
RIF. They use their own funds for 'what you don't believe in.'
Everytime you all bring that Clinton thing up you never mention what it was in exchange for and when. I don't talk to some members of my family that often, but if one of them blows something up, you bet I'm getting questioned. That's how we caught McViegh.
48. He officially withdrew from the 1972 Antiballistic Missile Treaty, gutting the landmark agreement-the first time in the nuclear era that the US renounced a major arms control accord.
GOOD! we need to protect ourselves from missles. especailly now.
Cause those terrorists used their missle stockpiles to...oh wait, they used box cutters....
Maybe if he had payed more attention to real threats this would be as much of an issue.
Any way the rest is probably bull and I dont want to finish this beacuse I am beat.
It is tiring. No wonder he cut and pasted.

If that's true - that the terrorists are concentrating themselves in Iraq - could someone pls explain who committed the Madrid bombings, the Egyptian bombings, the Russian massacre, the Indonesian bombings, the Turkey bombings, the Pakistan bombings, the Indian Bombings....
As for Bush's assertions to wait until History decides whether he made a mistake or not - isn't that taking a bit too long? How long is he prepared to wait for History to decide? It implies years after the event, which would be a bit too late to do anything by then, wouldn't you agree?
To me, this isn't saying the buck stops, it's more abdicating all responsibility for your decisions, by saying you're not prepared to re-evaluate any of your decisions until it's much, much too late to change them. It implies a sense of arrogance that History will prove him right. And if it doesn't, I guess it's too late, so hard cheese.

Just admit it...you have not one single original thought. Admitting you have a problem is the first step to solving it. In your case, admitting you have no original thoughts would set you on the way to true individualism, instead of just blindly following your fellow "punks."
Just admit it...George Dubya sucks balls, and you're just pissed off because he found smart facts and information regarding Dubya; therefore, you have no decent comeback.

Not bad, some good points there. We did learn that history did view the war in Vietnam as a strategic mistake (primarily in execution which is frequently a criticism about the current one in Iraq). History was unkind to the mixed and complex missions given to our troops in Lebanon and Somalia.
We are supposed to learn from past history to avoid giving future historians something to criticize.

6 months in 4 years is in fact 6 1/2 weeks a year, not 1 1/2. And in fact since he took office in january 2001, he's only 3 years 9 months into his job, which equates to almost 7 weeks a year pro rata (assuming the 6 month figure is right-up-to-date).
Your maths skills are equal only to your logic skills.

And the second:

Fabulous!

Except you're wrong. The Bush campaign's decision to "stick to their guns" was entirely a political one. They considered their options, which were to admit that mistakes were made and proceed from there, or to deny that any mistakes were made and that they would "do it all over again". They chose the latter. To be fair, neither one looked very good politically, and the first option does seem like it would be more destructive to their "like a rock" themed campaign. We'll see how that decision pans out come Nov. 2nd.
Bush is only a five on my scale, then again, I rate Kerry as a 3.
This is a bit one sided. Meaning that your information while some is true generally isn't credible. Now if we could just find someone who liked the two equally.

If Bush believes what he says about Kerry (and I think he does) that he can't lead troops in a war that he (Kerry) feels is the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time, then he (Bush) believes that what he decided was not a mistake.

In the case of point 28, 6 months in 4 years isn't a week and a half per year, it's a month and a half per year. Way, way, more than the average worker. He has possibly the most responsible job in the world, and he takes that much at a time when several major domestic and international problems need dealing with. It's not as if he didn't know what the job entailed...
EDIT: Gah. One of the 3 or 4 posts i didn't read contained this point.

1. The national debt under Bush has increased so drastically that the average American’s estimated share of the national debt will be an astronomical $24,000.
Its called 9-11, and the dot com bubble combined with a multi front war on terror.
...you've left out the retroactive tax breaks. And btw the economy was doing a hell of a lot better after Pearl, during WW II, so don't go whining that we were attacked and we have a war to fight, because that dog don't hunt. Smallest proportional net job gain of any president and a big surplus that turned into the biggest defecit ever, all under W.
2. Under Bush Jr. there are now 43 million Americans with no health insurance.
Alot of this is caused by stupid lawsuits brought by lawyers (like john kerry and edwards)
Funny, I thought Kerry and Edwards were senetors while Bush was in office.
3. Responsible for an unemployment rate of 6% there are now 9 million people out of work.

See reply to 1.
4. He cut healthcare benefits for veterans.
Uh, lets see the documentation, because I havent heard either "candidate" for the democrats say this yet...not even kennedy
http://www.democrats.org/specialreports/veterans/health.html
Here ya go. It's a liberal site (the DNC), but the footnotes are main-stream.
Uh, let's see the documentation. Oh that's right, they "lost" the pertinent parts. And the fact that CBS got fooled by a false document proves not one little thing either way.
We're screwing them anyway, and the Guard moreso. But what exactly is it that you're saying? Everything else goes on the back burner when we're fighting a war of Bush's aggression?
So pay for your OWN college. Why should I have to pay for it?
So you don't believe the government should be involved in scholarships? Fine. A point for you, in your own mind.
8. He withdrew from the International Criminal Court. No American soldier can be charged with war crimes such as the torture in Abu Grhaib.
Are you saying we cant punish our own? We have to let the world do it?
Why should anybody let the world do it? With our example of contempt for international law, why should there be war crimes trials for anybody? Even Saddam?
9. First president in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors.
Uh maybe because they tried to put a disbarred US judge in charge of it...and a very liberal one I may add
So did the admin offer an alternative to the UN?
10. All-time U.S. (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations from companies like Enron.
OOOO the evil corporations that just happen to provide the jobs this country needs...sounds to me like they know who the man is to get the economy going. Enron...give me a break.
Have you had your head up your ass for the past four years? These are companies that cook their books to defraud small stockholders and artificially control energy supplies to gouge taxpayers. Enron's fall did nothing to provide jobs and made hundreds of small investors, including their own workers whose 401Ks were locked into Enron stock, paupers. Halliburton, Cheney's once (and future - count on it) company where he served as CEO, got the biggest no-bid contract of all to rebuild Iraq, and they were caught cooking those books!
11. He proposed “free trade” agreements that would result in the loss of U.S. jobs due to foreign markets and the exploitation of third world workers.
All this talk about out sourcing and yet kerry's wifes company exports most of its jobs and know Kerry wants to outsource our medicine to Canada...
You really don't have a clue, do you? Firstly, Kerry's wife is not a CEO.
"Company spokespeople have repeatedly stated that neither Teresa Heinz Kerry, widow of Republican Sen. John Heinz, nor anyone else from the Heinz family has been involved in management in years and that the family's interests represent less than 4 percent of the company's stock. " - www.post-gazette.com
Yes this is a quote of a Heinz company spokesman, but in my search I saw a total of zero websites refuting it as a very volatile lie for an election year. You have references to refute it?
Secondly, you really need to do some learnin' on the canadian perscription issue. There is no outsourcing involved in this issue It is about drugs manufactured in the United States that are sold for less to canadian distributers and consumers. What jobs would be leaving our borders if we were allowed to buy medicine north of the border? Exactly None.
12. John Ashcroft
Edward Kennedy
Yeah those dirty Kennedies... always whiping their shit-ports with our Bill of Rights.
13. He has taken 11 official executive actions to undermine reproductive rights.
Oh pardon him for rallying for life. Why should I pay for abortions when
A. I dont believe in them
B. Your azz wont wear a condom
I would give you another partison-point for that one, but guess what? He will not let us support any reproductive education program that teaches condom use.
14 Failed to fulfill pledge to get Osama Bin Laden “dead or alive”. And at this point “doesn’t know where he is and doesn’t care” and “it isn’t really a priority”.
if you believe that, I have some prime swamp land forsale in Florida.
You really have no clue, do you? He is on film saying this to an interviewer. You people really do only retain the news that supports your views, don't you? That major little statement just went right out the other ear, or did you manage to just miss it?
Way to not answer the point. Why should two senetors put on a phoney six a.m. thanksgiving dinner for hand-picked troops in front of cameras at taxpayer expence?
Are you saying that because he is a general in the army he is not entitled to his own religous beliefs? Are you actually going to persecute someone in this country for his religon? And these comments were said OFF DUTY, IN A CHURCH.
I agree with you here. But they guy is a lousey American with no grasp of our core principles and values, rationalizing the violation of U.S. Code Title 3 as devine intervention.
17. After killing 1,000+ American troops in an unprovoked and unjust war, he still has yet to attend a single soldier’s funeral.
Sorry son, he has a very large country to run. And Bush didnt kill anyone, Kerry did. Children, women and old men.
So are you admitting that american troops commited atorcities in Viet Nam, or just John Kerry? And what proof do we have of this? Kerry. He tells us that, following orders, his crew fired on huts that lined the river, having been told they were VC emplacements. On his own initiative he went ashore after his last such attack and learned the truth. If you are to take his testimony at face value, then you must also acknowledge that these war crimes were ordered by the chain of command, and that the orders were not changed after Kerry told them that they were targeting civilians.
Well, she has to at least be qualified. Like nobody has ever used an "in" to get a job.
Yeah... nepotism: everybody's doing it. So that makes it alright.
19. He dropped his dog on its head.
You were dropped on your head.
Probaby by Bush.
(Learn to recognize humour.)
Yeah but Bush was too stupid to not get caught, and driving drunk as well.
21. Bush has set the all-time record for most people to simultaneously protest a leader (10 million people), shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind.
Interesting and who did that estimate CBS?
Yeah CBS has zero credibility for anything since that one incident.
22. He slashed funding to the Violence Against Women Act.
We have a war on son...
And a tax cut to pay for. Oh, wait, we're not paying for that. Well anyway I guess that crime at home is not as important as freeing Iraq from Saddam was.
23. He has invaded and continues to occupy two countries at the continuing cost of $1,000,000,000 per week.
Ya and one of those countries just had its very first election, and the other to follow shortly.
So when do we go to North Korea? BTW I supported the Afghanistan invasion, but since when is it our job to overturn tyrants? Or is it just those with oil who hate us? Or are we gonna stop with Iraq? Because if that's your answer to that point, we really should go into... about half the world.
24. He appointed Charles Pickering, a notorious segregationist from Mississippi, as a federal judge and suspiciously did so on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
I believe those appointments need aproval...
He might not get what he wants, but that does nothing to answer that point.
This is a bold faced lie. Look it up.
Prove it's a lie. We have certainly spent a lot in Iraq, states are cutting public services, the federal deficit and debt are higher than they have ever been, and he wants to make those tax cuts permenent. Just what is a lie about this? Maybe the numbers are off? Prove it.
26. Under new Bush legislation “The Clear Skies Initiative”, power plants are now allowed to emit triple the amount of highly toxic mercury into the environment.
Havent heard that one, I will have to look into it.
Please do.
27. Bush Jr. has failed to protect 3 million acres of the Tongass National Forrest from logging. The Tongass has the highest concentration of bald eagles on Earth. Not even the sanctity of America’s national bird can compete with Bush Campaign contributions provided by the forest industries.
Please...you must not live in aforest fire zone huh?
Are there a lot of people living in the Tongass National Forest? If there are they must be squatters, because it is not private land. It's also in Alaska, not noted for its wildfires.
You must be a product of the "no child left behind" program, huh?
try this:
1/2 year / 4 years = 1/8
1/8 * 12 months = 3/2 months = 6 1/2 weeks
You guys are chasing ghosts with this global warming thing. The third world countries cand afford to fix it anyway.
Head up your ass again? Look below for the point about how the Bushies twist science for politics. Global warming is now widely accepted as a fact. And are you saying the third world can or can't fix it? I can't tell. But if you think that the third world can put an end to global warming, you are incredibly ignorent. And if you're saying they can't, that's right, without us they can't. The biggest polluters there are companies from the developed world.
State Department.
again you are picking on a religous preacher. he is entitled to have his beliefs and I fail to see what this has to do with the President.
Just an example of his supporters. Another partisan-point for you. But Bush too believes that God is responsible for the 2000 election results.
31. He set the record for most executions by any governor in American history. 152 in total; some of whom were mentally disabled.
Hey, he upheld the law. And those mentally ill people, you know the ones that are people too and "should be treated like everyone else", I agree. They killed someone, follow the law.
Partison-point for you. But you know what? Innocent people do get convicted, people with extenuating circumstances (like battered wives) do end up on death row, and other governors don't have a problem reviewing individual cases and issuing clemency where they feel that an injustice has been done. Apparently Bush never felt an injustice had been done.
32. Repeatedly stonewalled the public investigation into 9/11
Ahem...
Ahem what?
Yeah it finally did happen, but no thanks to his trying to keep it from happening.
33. Bush Jr. has failed to fully fund the AIDS initiative after promising to do so. The final cuts that resulted were over $2 billion
Ahem...
Yes?
34. He still believes homosexuals are “sinners” and is doing everything in his power to forbid gay partnerships and deny fundamental civil rights to them on a national and local level
Again, he has not produced any legeslation to that effect and is allowed by the US constitution to have his own beliefs.
Another partison-point. But prior to the 2000 election he was saying gay marriage should be a states' issue. Flip-flopper.
35. Choked on a pretzel and nearly died while he was seated in front of the TV.
And Bears poop in the woods.
Again, learn what humor is.
Clinton never gave a no-bid contract to Halliburton, a company of which neither he nor his VP was ever CEO. And any indigtment of Bush is one of his party, and vice-versa. And for all this, why does he protect those corporate criminals?
37. Bush has set the record for the fewest amounts of press conferences by a president since the invention of television.
Yawns...he has better things to do.
...than to keep him employers informed of his job performence? Maybe that 6 1/2 weeks a year vacation is what's more important?
38. He’s responsible for a $521 billion budget deficit – less than 4 years after inheriting a 200 billion dollar surplus.
Ya him, 9-11, the declining stock market 6 months before he took office (aka the dot com pop)
Keep spouting the party line. If things were so tough on the federal budget, why did he lower taxes?
39. He has made repeated attempts to legalize oil drilling in the National Wildlife Refuge.
Hey you guys keep screaming get off arab oil...we try you bitch get off our oil.
Get off our wildlife refuges.
40. He cut a half a BILLION dollars from the Environmental Protection Agency' s budget. Who needs to look after the environment when there's all that oil drilling going on?
See above.
See above.
41. He approved a bill that denies financial aid to students convicted of misdemeanor drug charges (though convicted murderers are still eligible for financial aid).
Damn, he should have cut them both. again, pay for your own college.
Another partison point for you.
HA! You guys are really graspin for sht arent ya.
That does nothing to answer the point or even to tell us your views on it.
Yes abstinence is the only sure-fire way to avoid getting AIDS from sex. Know why it doesn't work? Because people like sex. That's why abstinence education will not help fight the epidemic.
43. He rejected an international accord to enforce the 1972 treaty banning germ warfare. Of course that would mean that the US would have to stop producing biological agents too.
Well, according to you and your friends, we are the great satan.
...so we should certainly have every horrible WMD that our science can provide. They're only evil when our enemies have them, right?
44. And talk about the fox watching over the hen house, he nominated former mining company executive Dan Lauriski as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health.
Gee we wouldnt want someone with MINING experience involved in MINE SAFETY.
Yeah America's corporate heads have long been known for not putting profits above worker health.
45. He allocated only 3% of the amount requested by Justice Department lawyers in the governments continued litigation against tobacco companies.
So dont smoke, that will fix that.
...because it's just fine for companies to release fraudulent information about the dangers of their products. If you listened to their frauds that's your problem, the government is not there to protect you from crime.
46. He prohibited any financial aid from going to international family planning organizations that provide abortion counseling, referrals, or services with their own funds.
that would be because not all people believe that way. Why should I pay for what I dont believe in.
I don't believe we should have invaded Iraq. Can I please have my taxes back?
A bunch of billionaires were in danger of being torn apart by an angry mob, and that's why we decided not to question any of them about a member of their own family? I guess the apple falls so far from the tree over in Wahabi-laden Saudi that there couldn't possibly have been any connection between them Beside, they probably said there wasn't, and that should be good enough for us, right?
48. He officially withdrew from the 1972 Antiballistic Missile Treaty, gutting the landmark agreement-the first time in the nuclear era that the US renounced a major arms control accord.
GOOD! we need to protect ourselves from missles. especailly now.
48 points and one that I can finally agree with.
Any way the rest is probably bull and I dont want to finish this beacuse I am beat.
Go take six weeks off.

No, I am not a Bush fanatic, nor am I a Kerry supporter. Bush is an insane Texas tiger, whereas Kerry is an evil Frankenstein monster. Neither are good candidates.
Reagan´s Ghost for President!!
I agree with that pretty much. except for the last part about how punk culture has never contributed to society and never will. not true they have contributed some damn good music. you can't tell me the Sex Pistols didn't give stuff to society.

I dont believe we'd be in this war if Gore had won in 2000 (which he did). Bush had this attitude long before he was on the thrown that he wanted to invade Iraq and Afghanistan. its been said so in policy reports by many members of the Bush Administration saying essentially we are the super power and we should take advantage of it and stop any country that threatens that. Bush told his staff to find evidence linking Saddam and 9/11 none was ever found. Bush's selling point was aluminum rods that resemble those that can be used in nuclear bombs. That would almost be good evidence in they werent more commonly used in normal missiles.
Kerry wouldnt have wanted to invade Iraq he doesnt make his money off of oil and therefore would never have givin such a one-sided report on Iraq. Read the DAMN WMD REPORT!
Does anyone remember that Bush said if Saddam acted in good faith he wouldn't invade? While he was saying this over the months he was slowly moving troops and aircraft carrier groups to the Middle East. How can anyone think after spending millions and millions on moving all these troops that Bush wouldn't use them? Sounds like being niave to the extreme. Bush meant to attack Iraq all along no matter what the inspectors found. There can be no denying it.
Bush was an excellent President because it would have been the exact same thing happenen even if we had a different president at the time.

Saddam was a terrible man, no doubt, but given the time Bush wouldnt fair too much better himself. And despite what Fox News tells you Saddam was relatively popular among the people they werent just oppressed peasents afraid to open their mouths for fear of torture and rape.
Thats funny because everyone I know who is actually been over serving in Iraq and Afghanistan say the people love having them there for the most part

Except Im not wrong. We do not know the reasons behind Bush's decision. We, you and I, can conjecture all we want, but in the end, we will never really know.
If Bush believes what he says about Kerry (and I think he does) that he can't lead troops in a war that he (Kerry) feels is the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time, then he (Bush) believes that what he decided was not a mistake.
I don't see how what Bush thinks of Kerry has anything to do with any mistakes Bush might have made himself. The issue is not Bush vs. Kerry in this particular instance, but Bush alone. He has not even said that opposing the 9/11 commission was a mistake, even though he changed his stance when it became clear public opinion was against him.
As to the politcalness of Bush's "I haven't made a mistake" campaign, I'm gonna direct you to this article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/10/weekinreview/10sang.html?ex=1255147200&en=3883aab3091e4d5d&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt
Now, this article is not hard proof, but I think that it is non partisan enough to offer as evidence.

I suppose Iraq's lack of WMD's and pissing off the entire world weren't mistakes? I simply can't see Bush's appeal for people. The man is so arrogant it is amazing he gets anything accomplished. When invading Iraq he said that the "world" had responded. I guess the "world" was the United States and Britain. You can see the utter foolishness of the whole situations when Congress's cafeteria's start serving Freedom Fries. Pathetic isn't it?

Were you born retarded, or did you suffer brain damage?
Bush is the only effective (*LOL*) president we could have? What about all of those before him? Kerry will shut down the military? This conclusion is based upon just what? Do you even have your own thoughts or do you just parrot the most extremist right views you can dig up on the 'net? Not even Bush believes Kerry would do that.

76th reason: Bush cut the amount of money you guys
(I'm English.Hi!) give to the Russians to dismantle their
nukes;so now there's a real risk that Osama and his mates
have nuclear capability(of course, its doubtful that they
actually have any kind of long-range ballistic missile ability
which makes Bush's "Son of Star Wars" completly useless
and makes Britain and other countries a target when
the anti-missile system is only meant to "protect" the US)
The only reason I gave Bush 2 instead of 1 is because,
although he supports Isreal, he's not as slavish as the
Democrats have been.
The UN election monitors were meant for Florida.
Apparently Walt Brown if elected would cut your
military budget to 50% to pay for education and welfare,
which I personally think would be a good idea.
Its interesting that China was mentioned.China is only
concerned with defending its own borders, though there
is the Taiwan issue.

states had eugenics policies that resulted in 100K being
"euthanised" and 200K sterilised?
I'm not anti-American BTW, but people everywhere need to
wake up and be aware of what their political and business
leaders are up to.

Fabulous!
Couldn't agree more.
Simply look at our nation and the world now to as it was four years ago. Better or worse? I ask anyone to honestly say that the situation is better now than it was in 2000.

Being mature doesn't mean accepting the world how it is. I believe that its more responsible and mature to question your leaders and make a stand.
I don't recall making any mention of maturity.

You can't really ask that question. So many events are out of the administration's control. Also, the Fed dominates the state of the economy, not the president.

I say we all do as Perfect Werdan would want, and that's to hold hands and try to hum and whistle our way to a safer world. I for one give 0.0 shits about the pain and suffering of those who harbor or train "holy warriors" and bitch about infidel westerners...blah blah blah. Go back to throwing camel crap or dirt clods at each other or whatever primitive "cultural experience" you're engaged in.
And by the way, I support confiscating Iraqi oil to pay for their liberation, dropping low level nukes on ghettos like Al Sadr village, and then making our way over to Syria to take care of that bitch Bashar al Assad.

The President makes plenty of policy decisions as to our our various government systems (welfare, education). Foreign policy the same. I can only believe that the situation with terrorism could have been handled much better without causing the paranoia in America that happened from people like Bush and Ashcroft.

I dont remember if i said it all ready (I've certainly thought about saying it) but do you honestly think we're safer? We have few friends left in the U.N., We have the most conservative members of the largest religion in the world declaring Jihad against us. Despite what you think you can't win the war on terrorism (Bush even said so). We are simply creating more sworn enemies, jumping at the chance to stop the world superpower and avenge their father's, mother's, sister's, daughter's, son's, friends', etc. death.
Just think if we were occupied by an even more powerful force, being masacred by the thousands, having all writes infringed on, and to top it all off were stealing your resources would you want to fight back and would you? I certainly would and they will too.

Thoughts like this are the cause of most violence, opression and hatred in the world. You make the point by arguning so belligerently against it. I have a feeling someone treated you very very poorly as a child. You have my pity.
