The fact that Bangladesh and Nigeria supply virtually all the world's UN peacekeepers in the field at any given moment, that is something to think about. I must say the EU's committment to UN peacekeeping forces is also pathetic right now. Perhaps it's the fact that Europe's standing armies have atrophied since the end of the cold war. The Balkans seem to have soaked up their energy. But I digress...

The vast majority of the world's peacekeeping operations are conducted by the armies of the third world. You can find stats for that, I'm sure. It's a compelling point on its own.

I'd say no. If there's a situation where US troops are needed I'd prefer that they were under the control of US officers.

I agree, but in High School debate you will have to take a different side each round.
