There we go! As reported on this web site (http://www.boingboing.net/2004/10/07/tv_station_reports_t.html), a TV station in Green Bay (http://www.wbay.com/), WI has declared a winner for the election!

http://www.boingboing.net/images/wbay.jpg
"At this hour, President Bush has won re-election as president by a 47 percent to 43 percent margin in the popular vote nationwide. Ralph Nader has 1 percent of the vote nationwide. That's with 51 percent of the precincts reporting."

WBAY later said it was an AP "test Message", and published this :

They later took the article, and all explanations, off the web entirely. Could this have been a hack or a big mistake of some kind? Probably.

Does it make you wonder though? Yeah.

Wow.

I'm always amazed at the mass stupidity of the media today.

Tell that to Dan Rather. ;) or ABC, or that guy at Reuters that declared that his goal was to put Kerry in the White House (and STILL has his job on the campaign trail, after writing a false story that Bush's crowd booed at Clinton when Bush wished him a fast recovery) or the guy at the New York Times who declared Afghanistan a 'quagmire' 7 days in, and Iraq a 'quagmire' 7 days in again, and still has his job writing for the front page after declaring it his 'mission' to defeat Bush..

I dont know. I still love Auntie Beeb. The irony being that she's publically funded, while private comapanies in the US are in the lap of the American government.

NPR doesn't get much public funding anymore...

NPR doesn't get much public funding anymore...It's the closest thing we have to a publicly funded media, though, and I think it's no coincidence that it's perhaps the most accurate media outlet available, along with the News Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS.

i work in the media..yes it is liberal, especially if you are talking national medai..local media tends to go which ever way the news director leans..although it is rare to put a slant of either on a house fire or car wreck...but in the weeks leading to an election the state A.P. (associated press) puts out dozens and dozens of test results...this is just an instance of someone in the A.P. not crossing thier t's and dotting their i's...which i have seen happen often ...

My guess is no.
I read about it on a couple of left leaning blogs, but nothing in the national media. Can't say I'm surprised.

47% + 43% + 1% = 91%

So who got the other 9%?
