I want to copy the Sims 2 CD either onto my computer or onto another disc.

I have the DVD version of the software, but since I found that it came with 2 discs, I assume the main program was a regular CD and the other being a DVD. Shouldn't be a problem, no?

However, my CD burning program says the CD will take up 5 regular CDs in order to copy it all down.

I'm stuck here. I'm not that good with these types of things.

And I need the copy for backup purposes. Don't suggest I do anything illegal.

I wouldn't bother. The Sims is total wank.

why? the new games coming out ie The Sims 2, Evil Genius, etc have the GOD of protections on the cds, it is COMPLETELY impossible to make and use copies of these games, even if they are legit copies. and a cd crack wont work, well not for sims 2, unless they have overcome the thing the programmers put in the game to combat no cd cracks: everything is destroyed when you use a certain function even though its not the destroy function


edit: if you are completely and totally competent with alcohol 120% you MIGHT be able to p[ull it off using some of its more advanced functions

You'll need to make a 1:1 copy of the original CD/DVD. If you don't have a DVD burner, then you're a bit screwed if the original media is DVD. Programs that will make 1:1 copies of CDs are Alcohol 120%, BlindWrite Suite, and CloneCD. Alchol will also do DVDs. I don't think BW or CCD do but I can't be sure.

All of the no-CD or backup-CD patches for the game do not work.

I got a DVD burner acessible in the house. So all your saying is that I need to download either Alcohol 120%, BlindWrite Suite, or CloneCD programs to copy a CD, or Alcohol just for the DVD? Sounds simple enough.

The easier way would be to download the warez release and put that on a DVD. Whether or not that would be illegal depends on where in the world you live, but at least there is no moral here problem since you already own the game.

And don't listen to Chess Squares, the game is cracked and works fine, just like every other high profile game has been.
