Euthanasia: 3rd poll

Ok I had a few mistakes on my last two polls, hopefully this one works...

On this poll it would have multiple choices.

Active euthanasia: Another person kills you on your wishes.
Doctor assisted euthanasia: The doctor supplies you with the means to kill yourself.
Pasive euthanasia: Life support is removed.

(there are other versions of euthanasia but in this poll just choose one or more of the options.)

I think it should be legalized as many people who currently have painfull diseases are still alive against their wishes. Many of them seak euthanasia and others die at home under horrible conditions (eg. cut wrists, hanging themselves). Legalized euthanasia supplies the patients with comfortable surroundings to spend there last minutes on earth and drugs that kill them with no pain.

Do people have the ability to choose more than one option in this poll?

This is a multiple choice poll, so you can choose more than one options, though if you choose yes, all euthanasia should be legal or no, all euthanasia should be illigal please don't select any other options.

I'm all against suffering, so of course I support euthanasia. Though I'm not too fond of doctors giving people the means to kill themselves...unless the patient requests it.

should be passed.

I think it should be done
by a doctor, in the quickest
and so-called least painless
way possible.

Like when we put dogs and cats
to sleep because we love them
and dont want to see them suffer
any more.

I dont know which is
the so-called quickest
and least painless
way possible, if its putting
someone to sleep, or other,
perhaps doctors or scientists
could have a more informed opinion
on this, any serious suggestions
on this, no jokes please
keep it serious.

And no one has any good arguments against euthanasia?

The only valid argument against euthanasia is that under privatized medical care, there may be a monetary incentive for an ailing patient to kill themself to save their family money. Obviously, no one wants this.

The solution may be a more socialist approach to medicine, who knows?

I am against euthanasia, as for one, it violates the Hippocratic Oath - how would you look at your doctor if you knew he could kill you? This system could be abused by some doctors to kill problem patients - ones that refuse to die. I'm not saying it will happen, but it might.

There's also the problem of 'the thin end of the wedge'. We may get a scenario where euthanasia is 'recommended' to certain patients, or even sterilisation to 'prevent' genetic diseases. This all happened in Nazi Germany. Again, not saying it will happen, but there is a precedent.

And finally, on a more spiritual note: do we understand life? Can we create it? The answer to both of these questions is, i believe, no. And until we truly understand life and how it works, should we destroy it? If your TV was broken, would you smash it? I believe that there is some meaning to everything, and while pain is never a good thing, we should not shy away from it in a bubble-wrap society. Passive euthanasia is OK - we are just letting people go naturally. But I see active euthanasia as murder.

I will say this, there is NO difference between suicide, passive euthanasia, and active euthanasia.

In all cases, the person wants to die, and they do. Who cares who does it, or who's watching, or who suggested it, or who authorized it?

These silly arbitrary imagined differences lead to the idiocy of the Terry Schiavo case, who can only be starved to death, not killed by chemicals or something more humane.

You have the right to refuse excess treatment. If the doctor says, "We might be able to save your body and remove the tumor, but you will be braindead after the operation," would you say, "Life at all costs"?

while pain is never a good thing, we should not shy away from it in a bubble-wrap society.

Easy to say if it's not you.

If a person wants to die, sure lets help them do it faster. Personally, I believe we all have the right to choose our own death.
