No matter how many times you try to deny it, the liberal bias of the major news organizations will come out!

ABC News Political Director Mark Halperin's secret memo admits "Kerry distorts, takes out of context, and mistakes all the time, but these are not central to his efforts to win."

After reading that, what I find commendable is that ABC is stating that they will not be intimidated by "stepped up Bush efforts to complain" about their coverage.

You call this liberal bias?

I call it accountability.

The Bush campaign complains about ABC's coverage, and they respond by being even more pro-Kerry. Sounds like the Bush campaign should've kept their mouths shut.

I guess i got news for you, then. All politicians distort, take out of context, and make mistakes. It's a job requirement. The question you have to ask yourself is, do they take it too far? If so, don't vote for them.

Not all distortions are created equal. Be honest, Eutrusca--I know it's a foreign concept when it comes to Bush, but just try it--the distortions put forward by Bush about his own record on the economy, on foriegn policy, on the situation in Iraq, on the situation in Afghanistan, on the linkage between 9/11 and Saddam Hussein, in some cases, these distortions have cost people their lives. There are over a thousand US soldiers dead now as a result of some of these distortions, not to mention over 20,000 wounded or mentally unable to continue service, and an unknown number of Iraqis. And I haven't even gotten into their distortions of Kerry's record--this is just their distortions of their own record.

Now compare that to Kerry's distortions of his own record and of Bush's positions. They're nowhere near as damaging to the world at large or to this nation. If you think they are, I suggest you try to prove it, but it'll be tough to top the death toll Bush's distortions have caused.

Eutrusca, you seem to think liberals are only one step removed from Satan himself. If you are open minded enough to listen, I would tell you about the experience of being one.

I identify myself as a political liberal, with reservations. I back equal rights for all Americans, intellectual public discourse on government policy, and accountability. I am not a pacifist, and I back our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan even while I denounce the President.

I don't have to love Bush to love my nation. Indeed, I fight Bush as fiercely as I do because I cherish and love the United States. With power comes great responsibility, and I demand that the United States accept the responsibilities of the power if it intends on wielding that power on the world stage.
