So which is it? And no, this isn't in any way connected to Dhomme's thread, it's just something I was thinking about this morning.

Happiness - hence the glory of alcohol, it'd be nice if it weren't necessary, if the world was such a wonderful place where we could all step back, see the glory and say "ahhhh". Sadly truth is such an objective concept and at this moment in time I'd rather be subjectively happy, we are essentially subjective beings after all (at least for the course of our lives).

Ignorance is bliss. The only way to be happy is to not know the truth, and a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Truth, even if it means being unhappy. Staying happy while being ignorant of the truth is definitely not the way to go. But if its the truth that makes you unhappy, then do something about it to change it for the better. That's my 2 cents. :D
