However, as bad as Bush is, he is not our worst President ever. Far, far, far from it.

You should have added some sort of middle ground to your post. I don't think he's the best, but I don't think all those negative things about him either.

Exactly.

I wouldn't say he's that far from it, though there are likely people who were worse...Franklin Pierce comes to mind for reasons I can't remember, except that he didn't get re-nominated by his party and is the only incumbent to try for it and fail. (Say what you will about Rutherford Hayes; he was out after one term because the GOP cut a deal...or maybe he didn't want a second term; I don't recall.) James Buchanan sat around with his thumb up his ass while the Civil War was brewing, as some other NSers eloquently put it. George Bush Sr. flushed a 90+ percent approval rating down the toilet in a year an a half, PLUS he went back on "Read My Lips." Jimmy Carter made too many promises, bungled Iran, and probably would have been better served working with the UN. LBJ ran the Vietnam War not to lose rather than to win - in fact, he was trying not to win. That's no way to run a war. I don't think I can nail Dubya on any of those charges, though I could easily give a laundry list of things he hasn't exactly done properly.
