Ok I had a thread posted like this but i dont feel I kept the Poll long enough so here is a new poll. You can Post your favortie NA and/or put the national anthem of your namtion(ns). Due to the fact that I know people might have more than one Favorite, you are allowed to choose more then one.

Here is a good NA site if you want to see what they are like. The site includes not only instrumental pieces of the anthem that you are looking for, but also vocal.

You do know that Germany has changed their natinal anthem from the Deutchland über alles song..? That was the Third Reich national anthem...just FYI.

Yes i have found that out, but the new anthem is also much like the old, just softer.

My top three favorite national anthems are:
1. Germany (which I voted for)
2. France
3. former East Germany

(i also like Italy's anthem though)

I adore "Advance Australia Fair" and "Star Spangled Banner".

Both are really great, acoustically and lyrically.

Yes I agree I voted for that anthem. The Russian National Anthem has a very nice tune that can Eeasilly get stuck in ur head!

I too notice that so many people dislike Advance Australia Fair. I like that anthem very much along with USA, and Russia (where i am from).

The Dutch anthem, the "Wilhelmus" ofcourse, I am Royaly offended with you missing this in your poll. ;)

I hear you. I've got the anthem going round and round my head all the time. It keeps me upbeat through the worst of times.

Yea and I actually liked the Russian National anthem so much I modeled my national anthem after it.

Oh yea and I like the part where its like " Be glorious Our Country" and the Trumpets have that slight solo " We are proud of You". I think thats the best part.

Hmm...for me it has to be "Slavsya otechestvo, nashe svobodnoye!" - that, with the trumpets calling, almost like a fanfare, above it. A call to battle, I suppose, and a fine one at that.

But, I am of German descent, and Deustchland Uber Alles, is my #2. Its just got a good sound to it. And I have caught myself humming the Russian Anthem to myself on a few occasions. Thats what you get from wacthing too much of "The Hunt For Red October".

Yes thats the part, it really makes a shiver go up your back the first time you hear it.

It's a tie between the National Anthem of the Russian Federation (I just sooo love that tune) and the New Zealand National Anthem.

"Auferstanden aus Ruinen" is my favourite, it was the old East German anthem. I also like "Hymn of the Soviet Union", at least I like the version that had Stalin's name in it.

Ah i like it, dontpissusoff it sounds more like an anthem. I will Officailly adopt it as my national Anthem! Thank you.

Well... I've only heard three of those (Oh, Canada; God Save the Queen/King; Star Spangled Banner) And I voted Oh, Canada, of course. I don't really like the Star Spangled Banner because it glorifies war. Which a lot of other anthems probably do too. Anywho:

The "Ode an die Freude" of Schiller, music of Beethoven.
The EU uses this as the EU anthem. It is full of hope, peace and without nationalism. Everyone should use it.

Personally I think there are a number of great anthems. I'm not a fan of those that advocate war, killing, bombs etc. such as the Starspangled Banner or the Marsailles. The text of the "Lied der Deutschen" is unfortunately still put in connection with the nazi regime, although it has a totally different meaning and existed long before the nazis did. Considering that it praises the rich and long history of the German people aswell as the goal of a unified Germany, this song is one of my favourites :)
