Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines. And of course, the branch everyone forgets . . .

Okay, funny cartoon, but I feel compelled to share a piece of trivial knowledge.
Actually, there are seven "Uniformed Services."
Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines -- Dept. of Defense.
Coast Guard -- Dept. of Homeland Security
and....
Public Heath Service Corps -- Dept. of Health & Human Services
http://www.usphs.gov/
NOAA Corps -- Dept of Commerce
http://www.noaacorps.noaa.gov/
And now you know.
They were moved to the department of homeland security
Pity really -- nice to have one branch of the armed forces actually dedicated to saving lives...

are all national guard units associated with the army , or is the air national guard associated with the airforce, what about the other services.

i think air gose with air
and what about civil air patrol and thing like that do they count

Civil Air Patrol is an Air Force Auxiliary. They're not military, and has no combatant roles, but does have a relationship with the USAF.
The CAP has historically had a multitude of duties, from search and rescue to scouting American waters for German submarines during WW2.
Right now, the CAP has three major missions. Seach and Rescue, the Cadet Programs (youth programs), and aviation education programs.
Coast Guard Auxiliary is the same kind of deal.
I was thinking civilians.

Really? That link goes to a story about Navy forces being used to enforce trade restrictions on certain drugs. What's that got to do with saving lives?

ANG is associated with the Air Force. They use our planes and fall under our budget.

Wrong. AirNG budgets fall jointly under both Federal and State governments, just as they have dual chains of command, one up to the President through Air Staff, and another up to the governor up through state officials.
