as someone who is lactose intolerant, the concept of milk is rather silly. i mean, why would anyone drink the juice from the underside of a cow that makes a third of the population sick.

Just in case here it goes what probably happened:
- Human mothers give milk to their children
- A guy sees a small cow having milk from an adult cow
- The guy says: Boy, stop milking your mother and go suck on the cow! :D

I think he noticed that human babies get milk from their mothers, remembered or maybe found out (hmm... what an experiment) that it not only tastes good but is very nutritious. Then he saw a calf sucking from something attached to the underside of his mother.

Then the hypothetical human did something called "abstract thinking" which is a skill few people have.
