well no, not insane... if you think about it... if someone were murdered everyday it's only 365 a year. While deplorable, pretty darn good when compared to say Detroit after an NBA playoffs.

houston has about four murder a day so of course having 1 a day is aviable, okay they aren't pronounced dead for two days but four dissapperances a day.
