ARGH ARGH ARGH! Computer frustration!

This is why I hate trying to build my own computer, things always go wrong.

Heres the basic story:
Ive been saving for a year or so, a little cash here, a little there, for a nice new top-end system, a P4 3ghz with a Radeon 9800 pro (256), this is not the best technology avalible, but its damn close, I dont intend to spend $500 just on the graphics card anyway :P
First off, I found out that my CD drive had suddenly broken, boom +$60 for a decent drive.
Next, the specifications for my new motherboard failed to inform me that this board requires DIMM memory, which is differnt from SIMM, which I had, there goes my old 256 chips, +150 for new ramchips of decent quality.
And now, the final problem so far, my old cases power supply isnt up to the task of supplying power to the new hardware. +60-100 bucks for a new case/powersupply.
All I can say is:
Damndamndamndamndamndamndamn.
Damn.
Remember kids, its worth the extra money to have Dell build it for you >_<

Sorry to bother you all with this, Im on vacation from school and I have nobody to vent at.

The OS is shit, that's your problem. Install Linux on it, or FreeBSD or some other Unix variation. I just installed it on this old guys computer, and I taught him how to use it.

PS: Dell sucks, and so does Microsoft.

The software is not the problem, the computer wont start because there isnt enough power going to the hardware, and it doesnt have windows on it, I kept the old harddrive.

It is not worth it for Dell to build it for you. I saved $1000 on my new system buy putting it together myself as opposed to having Dell build a comprable system.

You don't need a new case to get a new power supply. Just get a 430 watt sucker, that'll run your computer and then some.

And Alansyists, all the problems he listed have nothing to do with his OS. You don't even know if he's running XP, which you assume.

Considering over 95 percent of average computer users run Windows, I think I have good reason to assume. Oh wait there's a two percent chance he's running Apple or Linux.

Plus that's what I always say(it's the OS's fault). Becuase ussually it is a fault in the software not the hardware.

It's not his software's fault that his motherboard takes SIMM instead of DIMM, or that his CD drive broke down, or that his power supply is too weak.
