NOTE: Since I have been posting on this board, I have heard both liberals and conservatives called many unkind names. I've even done a share of the name-calling myself.

For me, that is ended.

I definitely do not want contribute to the general level of acrimony in the US to the point where extremists, of whatever stripe or political persuasion, escalate to exchanges of gunfire.

To all the liberals and leftists on here, if any of my posts have offended you, I sincerely apologize. Come November, all Americans are free to vote their consciences and should be able to do so without fear of either intimidation or reprisal.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Reuters) - A Bush-Cheney campaign office in Knoxville, Tennessee was hit by at least two gunshots apparently fired from a passing vehicle on Tuesday but no one was hurt, police said.

The shots were fired before the office opened for the day and shattered two glass doors.

Darrell DeBusk, a spokesman for the police department in Knoxville, said the motive for the incident was not known and no one working in the Bush-Cheney campaign office or any of the nearby businesses had reported any threats.

"You'd like to think it was just random," he said.

The campaign office, which also houses the Knox County Republican Party headquarters, was clearly marked with a banner promoting the re-election of President Bush (news - web sites) and Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites).

Police are investigating and are forwarding information to federal officials in case the shooting turns out to be a hate crime, DeBusk said.

"It's ridiculous. Somebody could have been here," said Carol Knaffl, a campaign volunteer at the office.

DeBusk said at least two shots were fired at the building, which is in a row of businesses in a shopping area in west Knoxville. He said the shots appeared to have been fired from a vehicle in the parking lot outside.

Maybe they saw the picture of the shrub, thought it was a monkey and tried to bag it?

Probably two drunk Repbulicans (OMG reiteration++ (OMG irresistable racist remarks ++)) thinking it was the Democrat's HQ :p

Seriously, probably just two morons who wanted to shoot something. Just glad they did while the office was empty.

To all the liberals and leftists on here,
You forgot "free-thinking people with political ideas which far supercede the crass right-wing, left-wing spectrum of idiocy that currently prevails in this nation." Of which I am one.
if any of my posts have offended you, I sincerely apologize. Come November, all Americans are free to vote their consciences and should be able to do so without fear of either intimidation or reprisal.
While you have never insulted me personally (that I know of) you frequently insult my intelligence. Will you be putting a stop to that, too?

As for gunfire in TN. Awful, just awful. If the Second Amendment were abolished, we wouldn't have to worry about that kind of thing would we?

Please note: I am strongly OPPOSED to doing anything with the 2nd amendment, the gross example of improper sentence structure that it is. And don't anybody start commenting on it either. Start another thread.

My apologies. My post was directed specifically at liberals. Next time I'll try to be a bit more "broad spectrum."

I'll try. :)

Probably. Extremists of whatever sort aren't usually given to following laws of whatever level.
