Is this political opportunism?

Does anyone ever get the feeling that John Kerry's current opposition to the war in Iraq is blatant political opportunism? I was in favour of the war before it started and I still am now, but I would have much more respect for John Kerry if he had opposed the war from the beginning before criticising George W. Bush's decision to wage it. I accept that John Kerry really needs to appeal to the left, but to be in favour of a war and then turn against it when there is political capital to be made is gross hypocrisy.

Gore got a majority, and by your logic in the above post, that would mean he was not getting the vote of the thinking people. I find that curiously inconsistent with your positions on most things political.
