Many of you may have noticed a recent trend by a Catholic who shall go unamed to not only blast down the walls of tolerance and reaosn in our society but has now turned on the Mother Church and the Holy Father.

The line from Peter to John Paul II remains intact, The Vatican Council acted with infalability bringing doctrine from all areas of Clergy and in open debate setting matters of doctrine in stone.

It is unacceptable for a Catholic to challenge this, we hold freedom of conscience to be lead to question Church Doctrine, but not to question the foundation of the Church, not to mock His Holiness. Not to denounce the Church and therefore God himself!

I make no denial that I am not the best Catholic, I do not attend Mass as frequently as I should, I hold alternate veiws on Homosexuality, Abortion and Divorce, however I do so only in my ability through freedom of conscience and where doctrine is available that contradicts these false teaching of some Priests. Though dispite this I still support our Holy Church and the hope it stands for and cannot accept this attack on God Himself.

This individual has claimed to be a First Vatican Catholic, however that would meen he need act without freedom of conscience, without freedom of conscience he could not challenge Church Doctrine. Meaning that this individual is either a heritic or a blaspheming heritic.

Either way I assure you he does not speak for The Church and appologise to the rest of you for being subjected to this.

I demure. His posts are amusing and he is clearly a parody character. Plus no-one takes his posts that seriously....I think. (In fact I'm fairly sure from what he said in the "ask a gay thread" the mods would have deleted him if they didn't think he was a joke that no-one took seriously but I can't be sure 'cos I'm new here. I do know there was a similar type of thing on ez board with truechristians unite where it was made fairly clear that the only reason the whole board wasn't taken down was because people all knew it was a joke.)

Vatican II definetly opened up major rifts within the Holy Church. Latin Mass (aka Tridentine Mass) is one of the issues which causes the most arguments and I can see why.

Vatican II did act as way of the Church liberalising, conforming to secular pressure and by becoming more 'protestant'. Did you know that some of the most influential people in deciding reform at Vatican II were fervent Protestants?!

Anyway, Vatican II wasn't all bad....though I can't think what was good from it. But anyway, I wouldn't consider myself a traditional Catholic but rather a progressive one (I support womens ordination for example) and I certainely wouldn't call the Pope an anti-christ, as some traditional Catholics have. I understand His Holiness' situation in that any major changes can wreak schism within the Church and that would be disastruous, especially in todays world.

Just a note on Latin Mass, despite being a progressive Catholic I support Latin Mass.
