I like the quote at the end of that piece:
(Bremer) also disputed criticism that the Bush administration had no plans for postwar Iraq.
"There was planning, but planning for a situation that didn't arise," he said, including a large-scale humanitarian or refugee crisis. "Could it have been done better? Frankly, I didn't spend a lot of time looking back."
Nice little dismissal of accepting any responsibility. I'll have to use this if I ever forget to pick the girlfriend up from work.
So, the Bush admin had lots of plans for postwar Iraq, but none of them included the idea of a sustained guerilla warfare!! WTF?!
But,hey, we have no right to criticise because that's negative during a time of war and anyway it's in the past and they don't bother looking at that.
Obviously the Bush admin has never heard the quote about 'Those who don't learn from the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them'.
Certainly makes one feel confident about any more invasions they have planned, if they're not bothering to see what went wrong with this one.
