Before I begin I would like to explain the purpose of this essay and the “proletariat.” The proletariat is any member of the middle class, lower middle and upper. This paper is both an exploration of their psychological make up and a critique of their behavior.
The proletarian classes have always been creatures of ignorance and speculation. In ancient times helots, plebeians, and serfs were oppressed by their own various caste systems. In the middle ages the peasants were told “It is the will of god” for them to remain ignorant and subservient to the nobles. These sentiments remained until the French revolution. In which the individual became aware of it’s own existence. Of course this was not as great of a turning point as the birth of Marxism. After the publication of “The Communistic Manifesto” the worker did not become more self aware, rather the intellectuals of Europe became more sympathetic to the plight of the worker. With the rise of industrial society and the information age the proletariat has found new venues of entertainment and knowledge. Now it views itself with an arrogant self-love, found in Gothicism, and a cynical holier than thou conservatism towards the world. The question arises, why would you want to save a creature that is often times violent and stupid, and for the most part apathetic to it’s own fate? We shall examine these creatures in the most abstract Freudian method. I am undecided whether I wish to better their lives. It’s resembles giving a wild animal luxuries, without slaughtering it. Obviously they don’t wish to be saved, so I’ll just watch their triumphs and tribulations, better or for worse I don’t care.
From the day a man is born, he is channeled, indoctrinated, and assembled, then he is told he’s “unique.” Worst of all, he believes it! The emergence of the ghetto and gothic subcultures is because of this dictorial democracy. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t Goths and ghettos simply conforming to non-conformity. If you have an urge or instinct to be different, you aren’t. If uniqueness has become popular, then it is no longer unique, and neither are you. You're just another stupid middle class loser with too much money, too much time, and a lack of creativity. Typically, a psychologist would say it is a lack of attention that influences children to behave the way they do. It isn’t, I can assure you. Psychology is only as complex as you make it, and frankly most people aren’t worth the time to analyze. Why look under the hood of a car when theirs no engine? The child goes to school, and becomes lost in the ritualistic routines of the day, and the hierarchical structure of his schools social pyramid. He goes to college, gets a job, finds a nagging ugly woman, thinks he’s something special, then dies. After he is in the cold earth for a few years no one will remember or care.
Due to the chronic boredom and lack of cerebral activity amongst the middle classes, proletarians try to create drama in their meaningless lives. That is why you see such idiotic “reality” television shows, spawning from these worthless piles of human waste. Often times you see a giant, gelatinous lump of flesh sitting on the couch, yelling at the players on the television. As if he was ever semi athletic. Occasionally after the game he will watch a movie and become sexually aroused by an anorexic, plastic filled actress, make a few casual remarks about the actors, to hide his anger and envy. My friends, if loserdom was made of strawberries, we’d be drinking a lot of dacaries . Gossip is a never ending human flaw. From the marketplaces of Babylon to the coliseum of Rome, and in this very class room you can hear their words. Yes, their vile, venomous, meaningless words. Filled with nothing but lies, intended for nothing but to release their own dissatisfaction with their life. As you walk around the school you will see herds of men and women, boys and girls, babbling about their “boyfriend, cell phone, TV shows, etc” You listen closer and hear the wicked whispers from crueler tongues, lies about pregnancies, fictitious sexual adventures. Nothing of any importance to me, or anyone with a functioning brain.
Let’s talk about the upper middle class’s disposition. Typically both the parents graduated from college with honors. Because their parents had enough money to send them to college. And the cycle continues for generations, establishing them as the intellectuals of our society. By no means can the be called “intellectual. ”Wealthy, lucky, yes, but not intelligent. It’s incredibly funny that these people’s children are always “prodigies” at whatever they do. Whether it be school work, the school science fair, or the clarinet. They are always the “best”, possibly it’s because their parents promote them like that. Maybe it’s because they are so pompous and oblivious to reality, they believe their wealth can buy them anything. I won’t disagree, because in many ways it can. For example in my “gifted” science class we were asked by a show of hands who had second houses. Everyone raised hands, except three of us. Possibly they really aren’t that endowed with skills, just cash, and obnoxious, pushy, egotistical parents concerned with no one but themselves and living their life through their child. They are always the first to preach tolerance and diversity, yet they enroll the children in programs that are near segregation. They pass these traits on to their children, who have founded their own camarilla on this campus. This isolation proves my point, they are worthless unproductive swine, whose worth barely exceeds a pile of dog fesses, except when you include their “wealth.” The funny part is, they really aren’t that rich. Just narcissistic, ignorant, and hypocritical. But they too are manipulated by the one emotion that keeps the world sane and insane at the same time.
Sex and sexual thought. Once a worker sheds his virginity then he will be hopeless. Unless of course he has a great deal of willpower to overcome the feral instinct. Sex has always been natures fortress against logic and anarchy. It is an obsession amongst all human beings both young and old, rich and poor. This infatuation diverts mental resources that could be put to better use. And I am as guilty as anyone, but I have not allowed it to destroy my humility. You always hear an idiot talking about how beautiful his “girlfriend” is. Eventually you see her and you begin to roll on the ground laughing, at the human imagination. The ability to change twig-figured or blob shaped women into goddesses is one skill humanity does not lack. We have allowed sex and anti-sex to become the true retardants to humanity’s advancement. Anti-sexuality has always been under guises of “cleanliness” and “orthodoxy.” But I can see through their masks, they are ugly deformed perverts, with an Aesopian complex. The Aesopian complex is simple, it derives itself from the story “The Fox and the Grapes.” The founders of anti sex institutions were either incredibly ugly, or they had severe mental illnesses. So therefore they hated what the couldn’t have. Now days this complex still exists, but anti sexuality is more so the blindness passed down from older generations. You see people preaching all day long, arguing about the issue. When you take a deeper look, you see that they all want the same. It’s just some allow it to take control of their lives, and others allow their hatred for it to engulf their minds. Civilization makes sense. Until you add the human element, then it makes no sense at all.
The liberal proletariat and conservative proletariat are both creatures to be dissected and criticized. The conservative is either a back woods nazi, or a greedy, fat hypocrite. The second one is the worst out of the two. They claim they support the war against terrorism, they scream for violence and death. But when it comes time for the draft, they don’t send their kids, or at least try. All they really want is the miniscule tax cut Bush gives out every year. It is because of them, the entire country is collapsing. I pray to god the sands of those forsaken lands are stained with republican blood. The backwoods sheet wearing republican is not a hypocrite. He is a racist, a homophobe, and more ignorant than Jerry Falwell and Bush put together. He cares about the tax cut, because he’ll have enough money to buy alcohol for a few weeks. They speak of “democracy” often. Yet they want a society without democrats or homosexuals, and a government based on the military. They want the freedom to bear arms, but at the same time they want governmental controls on the media and anything deemed “unorthodox” by their perverted religious and political systems. The liberal is often a man who comes from a state without minority groups or illegal immigrants. He knows nothing of diversity except it is something to be advocated. The liberal like the conservative, doesn’t realize education isn’t for everyone. They can’t grasp the concept of community and what it really means. Of course the liberal doesn’t have the sense to become militant and rid himself of republicanism once and for all. Their respective psychologies are very similar, and both reek of hypocrisy.
On the subject of intelligence I would like to make myself clear. I firmly believe the vast majority of people are total idiots. And worse yet, they are idiots that believe they are intelligent. For example, in school they’re very strict guidelines to writing an essay. If a child abides by these rules he is guaranteed a passing grade. Whether the essay has any depth or not doesn’t matter. He has followed the laws set down by lax, erudite, buercratic morons. Who have no real artistic ability, just a nice college diploma and an easy government job, composed of shuffling papers and whining about their pay. A child scores on this test, and all of the sudden he is a creative prodigy! “Yes he is the next Shakespeare!” proclaims the proud parent. Then he writes an unoriginal worthless Harry Potter clone that would never get published under normal circumstances. But his parents pay for it and it is. And the people buy it! This is the origin of the book Eragon, and many others. You engage in a conversation with someone and it is dull, because the person has no real thought. Yet they receive all A’s because they’ve memorized whatever useless garbage is written on the board. Whether they understand it or not doesn’t matter, as long as they can puke up whatever was shoved down their throats they’re “geniuses.” If you examine the projects of these prodigies you will see their was a lot of parental “input”, yes input that's the word. I stopped believing in societies judgment a long time ago. Show me another genius, and I’ll die laughing.
The lack of mental multitasking is all to apparent in our society. In operating systems for example, a random number generator is required to make the system function. But the vast majority are only psuedo random. As are human thoughts. The vast majority of people simply recall events and memories, piece them together, then regurgitate it. While others can take a primitive emotion or idea, and create a concept unbound by the concrete principles laid out before them. For the most part people really don’t think. They are simply generating unmodified, preprogrammed concepts, discovered via the internet or another mass media device. Next time you sit down and think you will realize how one dimensional and obsessive your mind is. You are simply recalling libraries saved in your mind, manipulating them(maybe). Although this is influenced by your own algorithmic make up, it still is not your personal creation. Just a corrupted, mutated version of whatever you are exposed to. So you really aren’t that “unique” after all. Now are you?
What I have written derives itself predominantly from my own experiences and my everyday life. This paper is still just a new compilation of old sources. It is a hybrid of existing concepts. And these more basic concepts are built upon emotions and instincts predating humanity itself. Frustration, hatred, and lust are all predefined variables you are born with. This towering pyramid of psyche is overwhelming. But once you examine the base you can understand all of it. As I have said before, of all the morals their are I place modesty at the top. I don’t believe I’m a genius of any sort. But I know that most of the people in this world aren’t worth wasting time trying to convert or teach. People always criticize what they don’t understand, to hide their ever present ignorance. This bitterness and my experiences have led me to the conclusion that people are just stupid. People know their idiots, that is what makes them bitter. They know their worthless, but they have to much dignity to accept it. It comes down to dissatisfaction and apathy. Personally I don’t care what happens to these useless, incompetent, scum bags. They decide their fate, nuclear apocalypse, disease , and bondage to the rich are all their choices. Not mine, they can fight their wars, lose their battles, live and die forgotten and ignorant. Worst of all, they don’t realize how crude their minds are. Their apathy deserves no sympathy. And I can assure you, they will never earn mine.

I'm going to be as polite as possible: that's a terrible paper. It crams opinions down the reader's throat, repeatedly uses abusive language and insults where logic and facts should be used instead, and just generally isn't very well thought out.

I don't say that to be rude, but I can assure you, if you tried to submit that to a newspaper they would take 10 seconds to skim it, and then throw it in the trash.

It also wouldn't hurt to double space your lines, to make it easier to read.

"It's", short for it is, should be replaced with "it". Or you could say "It's akin to giving a wild animal...".

First of all, why do you make up your own definition of the historically important term "proletariat"? The proletariat refers to the LOWEST class or, in the more technical Marxian sense, the laboring class -- specifically made up of factory workers. If you think the term should be applied to the middle class instead, tell us why. Or, if you just want to talk about the "middle class," why didn't you use that term?

I cannot believe how many problems there are with this sentence. First of all, one already suspects that you are NOT talking about the "middle class" you mentioned above. More importantly, your use of "ignorance" and "speculation" is vague, since a speculative person may be quite knowledgable, and the ignorant are often known for their refusal to speculate beyond the status quo.

Definitely not talking about the "middle class" now! Neither do you employ the Marxist definition, since in this sense the proletariat did not exist "in ancient times."

You oversimplify. Under feudalism, communities developed a strong sense of themselves as organic wholes, providing strong secular arguments for station and class. Moreover, this commitment worked both ways -- the nobility was constantly aware of rules of service and charity that exercised a much stronger influence than similar "moral" codes do on today's wealthy classes. Finally, there is significant evidence that religion was an upper-class phenomenon that played only a glancing role in the lives of the lowliest class.

What?! I assure you, "the individual" was quite aware of "its" existence long before the French Revolution. Of course, this meant a variety of things... As far back as Plato, for instance, great thinkers understood the problem of "the individual in society"... but for Plato, this meant that all rule rested on "self-rule," not in the modern democratic sense, but in the sense of a person's "rule over her/himself".... which made the moral education of the individual an important component of political rule. Skipping ahead, Hobbes certainly concerned himself with the individual, although his conclusions seem perverse to many people today. And are you forgetting John Locke? What about the American Revolution? While not as radical as the French Revolution, you can hardly claim that it had nothing to do with the conflict between individuals and the collective!

Yes. It was. While one can hardly overestimate Marx's contributions to political and economic thought, it must be emphasized that he systematized and advanced ways of thinking that were extant or latent before him. He draws heavily on the Enlightenment, as well as previous economists. (Read Thomas Paine's Common Sense some time... While Marx almost certainly would not have read it, you will be surprised to find how much "Marxist" thought appears in this seventeenth century thinker.)

It's "The Communist Manifesto." If the worker's consiousness did not improve (or was not in the process of improving), then little changed. How can you call it a "great turning point" in one sentence, and then claim that it was essentially a reformist influence in the next?

First of all, which "proletariat" are you talking about? Marx's factory workers? Your "middle class"? What country?

Second, your assertion doesn't make much sense. Has the proletariat embraced "Gothicism"? Why do you think this represents "arrogant self-love"? Can one really associate a "holier-than-thou" conservatism with the working class? Conservative, yes. Pious? Not likely.

If you really want to convince anyone, you will stop referring to people (or a person) as "it." You reveal your bias too soon. Second, if you really believe what you said at the beginning -- that the lowest classes have been "oppressed" -- then you answer your own question, because you explain the nature of their violence, ignorance, and -- to the extent that it exists -- apathy. However, you should be careful to equate non-action in a political realm with apathy. Power operates on many levels, often so quietly as to convince the powerless that "resistance is futile"... or even morally wrong.

First: Quit it with the gendered language. Civilized society has decided that in academic writing we use non-gendered terms like "person" or "he/she, her/him" (use alphabetical order), so as not to give a "male" connotation to what should be a generic statement.
Second: What do you mean by "channeled"? Are you talking about sublimation? Or about some sort of "life track"? What? Oh, and how about "assembled"? How does this differ from "indoctrination"? And, does legitimate education EVER occur, or is everything "bad"?

I hate to take you to task on this, because you are tangentially close to some real insights. Our society is totalitarian, as Marcuse puts it, but hardly dictatorial. Do you know any Goths? Whoever told you that being Goth was about being "unique"? Sure, they take from the Romantic poets a notion of personal uniqueness, but the sub-culture's rebelliousness is aimed precisely at the dominant culture. If you think they just want to be "different," then you've stopped listening too soon... because the fact of the matter is that they want to be "different from", specifically different from the dominant culture. Within Gothic subculture, there are very explicit norms of behavior, attire, music, etc. If a person listens to mainstream music, he or she may be castigated as "not Goth enough" to hang out with... so yes, they conform with one another. But this is trivial, since any sub-culture, like any culture, requires some standard of conformity. The point is to be different from the dominant culture -- and different in very particular ways -- NOT to be simply "different," which is in any event trivially true: we are all unique. [For the record... I am not Goth.]

I might expect that most groups of people have some creative members, some less creative, and some with no creative talent whatsoever. Hmm... and, there's the fact that a lot of psychologists do not agree on these issues. Ah! But you mention Freud!! What would he (or his followers) say? Interestingly, many of the disorders examined by the early Freudians were caused by overstimulation of the child, creating crises in psycho-sexual development that might otherwise have resolved themselves without neurosis. Moreover, their explanations often differ dramatically depending on whether they are treating men or women, so your statement is necessarily too broad. I wish you would elaborate.. so I could figure out what the hell it is you are talking about!

A nice analogy... but it does not fit. If there were "no engine," then the person would be entirely free to make decisions based on whatever whim happened in the moment. The fact that there is an engine -- the subconscious -- creates a situation in which free choice is constrained by personality traits, repressed urges, defenses, ideals... and so on. What you are trying to say is something more like, "why ask the computer when you can read the program," since you think "the program" with which people are indoctrinated is relatively easy to read.

Ritual is important to us all... and navigating complicated ritualistic social settings can require a great degree of creativity. On the other hand, I think you underestimate the level of free play involved in growing up... much of "play" being defined as stepping outside of prescribed categories.

Inconsistent, if not incoherent. First, is not the creation of drama where none exists a very reasonable solution to the problem of chronic boredom? Second, does this creation not require "cerebral activity"?

I agree, many of them are idiotic. But, do the people who watch them have much hand in creating them? You should note that there are still very well-done dramas on television... reality TV just seems to dominate because there is a LOT of it, but that is only because it is so cheap to make. The fact of the matter is that few reality shows last very long, because those "worthless piles" reject them as idiotic. The problem is that the shows are so cheap to make, producers are willing to take the risk, and try over and over again. If you actually try watching them, the ones that are popular for extended runs are often quite creative and interesting (Survivor and Big Brother have both inspired serious academic discussion as ways of playing out -- and playing with our notions of community).

Okay. Why didn't you bring up Freud here, when you have a perfectly legitimate chance? Of course, I do not see how this is a criticism of the person so much as it analyses the society... Yes, our society provides de-sublimated outlets for sexual and aggressive urges. (But, you miss that, because you think he represses his anger rather than living it out vicariously.) Why aren't you thinking about what could be done with that potential?

So? What makes gossip a flaw? You know, some scientists believe that gossip may have been the first kind of human speech, from which our intelligence developed. Once human/pre-human communities became too large for bug-picking and grooming to be an effective means of maintaining relationships, researchers theorize that our evolutionary forebears took to gossip ("small-talk") as a means to create and maintain friendships, and establish divisions where necessary.

Okay... so you've criticized the poor, and now the wealthy. Who is free from blame? Perhaps more importantly, what are you trying to criticize?! If it is vast inequalities of wealth, then we are in agreement. But how can I be sure??

Before I begin I would like to explain the purpose of this essay and the “proletariat.” The proletariat is any member of the middle class, lower middle and upper. This paper is both an exploration of their psychological make up and a critique of their behavior.
The proletarian classes have always been creatures of ignorance and speculation. In ancient times helots, plebeians, and serfs were oppressed by their own various caste systems. In the middle ages the peasants were told “It is the will of god” for them to remain ignorant and subservient to the nobles. These sentiments remained until the French revolution. In which the individual became aware of it’s own existence. Of course this was not as great of a turning point as the birth of Marxism. After the publication of “The Communistic Manifesto” the worker did not become more self aware, rather the intellectuals of Europe became more sympathetic to the plight of the worker. With the rise of industrial society and the information age the proletariat has found new venues of entertainment and knowledge. Now it views itself with an arrogant self-love, found in Gothicism, and a cynical holier than thou conservatism towards the world. The question arises, why would you want to save a creature that is often times violent and stupid, and for the most part apathetic to it’s own fate? We shall examine these creatures in the most abstract Freudian method. I am undecided whether I wish to better their lives. It’s resembles giving a wild animal luxuries, without slaughtering it. Obviously they don’t wish to be saved, so I’ll just watch their triumphs and tribulations, better or for worse I don’t care.

A child scores on this test, and all of the sudden he is a creative prodigy! “Yes he is the next Shakespeare!” proclaims the proud parent. Then he writes an unoriginal worthless Harry Potter clone that would never get published under normal circumstances. But his parents pay for it and it is. And the people buy it! This is the origin of the book Eragon, and many others. You engage in a conversation with someone and it is dull, because the person has no real thought. Yet they receive all A’s because they’ve memorized whatever useless garbage is written on the board. Whether they understand it or not doesn’t matter, as long as they can puke up whatever was shoved down their throats they’re “geniuses.” If you examine the projects of these prodigies you will see their was a lot of parental “input”, yes input that's the word. I stopped believing in societies judgment a long time ago. Show me another genius, and I’ll die laughing.
The lack of mental multitasking is all to apparent in our society. In operating systems for example, a random number generator is required to make the system function. But the vast majority are only psuedo random. As are human thoughts. The vast majority of people simply recall events and memories, piece them together, then regurgitate it. While others can take a primitive emotion or idea, and create a concept unbound by the concrete principles laid out before them. For the most part people really don’t think. They are simply generating unmodified, preprogrammed concepts, discovered via the internet or another mass media device. Next time you sit down and think you will realize how one dimensional and obsessive your mind is. You are simply recalling libraries saved in your mind, manipulating them(maybe). Although this is influenced by your own algorithmic make up, it still is not your personal creation. Just a corrupted, mutated version of whatever you are exposed to. So you really aren’t that “unique” after all. Now are you?
What I have written derives itself predominantly from my own experiences and my everyday life. This paper is still just a new compilation of old sources. It is a hybrid of existing concepts. And these more basic concepts are built upon emotions and instincts predating humanity itself. Frustration, hatred, and lust are all predefined variables you are born with. This towering pyramid of psyche is overwhelming. But once you examine the base you can understand all of it. As I have said before, of all the morals their are I place modesty at the top. I don’t believe I’m a genius of any sort. But I know that most of the people in this world aren’t worth wasting time trying to convert or teach. People always criticize what they don’t understand, to hide their ever present ignorance. This bitterness and my experiences have led me to the conclusion that people are just stupid. People know their idiots, that is what makes them bitter. They know their worthless, but they have to much dignity to accept it. It comes down to dissatisfaction and apathy. Personally I don’t care what happens to these useless, incompetent, scum bags. They decide their fate, nuclear apocalypse, disease , and bondage to the rich are all their choices. I don't believe I have ever said that, on this forum or elsewhere, I think in this case you may be confusing me with another poster.

Personally I don't ascribe to the view of the ubermensch as connected to eugenics, other than by those who have historical appropriate selections from Nietzsche for their own ends. To me it is more a description of both an individual affirmation that any individual could take and also the first glimmers of a post-humanist concern within philosophy. Of course, once one gets into the less-mangled parts of The Will To Power and starts looking at reality as nothing but a field of interacting forces, then the definition of the superman must be re-evaluated again...

Have you read Peter Reich's memoir of his childhood Book Of Dreams? - it gives a very interesting perspective on his father, Wilhelm. Definitely worth cracking open if you get the chance.

People always criticize what they don’t understand, to hide their ever present ignorance. This bitterness and my experiences have led me to the conclusion that people are just stupid. People know their idiots, that is what makes them bitter.

Overall, I found the individual points generally good, but the main idea was where it fell apart in a heap of irony.

With that said, on to the paper. Your definition of proletariat is wrong, as it consists of the lowest working class, and is classically defined as someone without capital.

Economic and educational differences had much more to do with the feudal system than the stupidity of the people or their belief in a god.

The feudal system had begun to die in Europe long before the French revolution, with the printing press and the Renaissance being more important to the enlightenment of the proletariat.
