Can anyone tell me?

Can anyone tell me anything Bush did right during his presidency so far? And I'm serious about this (I'm not trying to start a debate about which candidate is better or anything) because I chose to write an essay about the presidential candidates. I have a lot of cons for his presidency (sorry pro-Bush people) but not enough pros and I do not want my essay to be biased agianst any candidate.

And what I mean by "right" is either a positive character trait or something that isn't very controversial (like Iraq) that he did or started.

It's undeniable that the Bush Presidency has been "controversial," particularly among the radical left. Perhaps you would be further ahead by writing your essay from the standpoint of having achieved stated goals, rather than trying to eliminate everything you ( or others ) considers "controversial."

I can seriously only come up with one thing I agreed with that Bush has done during his presidency and that is... choke on a pretzel. lol no seriously it was the Do Not Call list. Other than that his record has been attrocious. Well he was neve a legitimate president in the first place so you can't expect too much from him.

Here I'll agree slightly with Eutrusca, though not in content. I do think that the Bush presidency has been a trainwreck.

However, there is no presidency that is going to have a non-controversal outcome on just about anything. People dispute Lincoln, Washington, Kennedy-they are going to be disputes about what every president has done, and every decision(sp). It's unavoidable. What is getting forgotten is the idea of comprimise, that the system is set up to bring opposing ideas together and come up with something that can be settled on. Now we act as if there is only one way to do anything and anyone who disagrees is EVIL...

So you would have to change your criteria no matter who the president you where writting on.

Well what i mean by controversial is that things such as Iraq seems to be both a pro and a con being that Iraq is pretty much going down hill although Saddam is removed. Both Bush and Kerry use Iraq as ammunition against each other.

A non-controversial trait, for example, is that Bush is known for being very decisive and that trait isn't used against Bush as much as say Iraq where people can easily argue that we don't belong or that we still have solved much there.

In other words I'm trying to limit writing about very-controversial things. (I know anything any president has ever done ever could be consdiered controversial but some are more controversial, in my opinion, than others)

Well one thing he has done right is to fight the terrorists (and kill large amounts of them) over in Iraq instead of fighting them here. It is very nice of those ragheaded morons to come into Iraq and let us slaughter them instead of us having to chase them all over the globe. ;)

...He came out very well out of September 11th and the Columbia-shuttle crises and managed to use the upsurge in American patriotism to spread American military influence into the Middle East, Afganistan, and Uzbekistan. That is all good for America, maybe not for the conscience of some Americans.

Bush strongly opposed the 9/11 Commission. If you didn't like the 9/11 Commission, that's a pro for Bush.

Bush strongly opposed inproving port security. If you oppose port security, that's a pro for Bush.

Bush strongly opposes improving the security of chemical plants. If you oppose chemical plant security, that's a pro for Bush.

Bush strongly supports pork barrel spending. If you support pork barrel spending, that's a pro for Bush
