walmart have christmas stuf out :confused:

Around here, they usually cart it out right after Halloween. Haven't been to my local Wal-Mart recently, so I don't know if they have Xmas stuff out yet... Halloween stuff was on sale early though, so who knows?

That's just the way it is in retail land. Target, Kohl's and I'm sure every other major retailer has their Christmas stuff out or are going to be putting it out in the next few days

Well, I'm sure your house feels left out when it sees all the people dressing up, and it wants to too. So you can dress it up like a house from the holidays.

I worked replenishment (read: putting out merchandise) at Kohl's this past summer and we were starting to put out Christmas stuff in August.

Big stores put out Christmas stuff in early October to keep hammering into your head, whether you like it or not, that Christmas is coming and you should be spending more money. The effect of this however, is that Christmas has become so degraded, when it arrives, one's attitude is one of profound indifference. The last few Christmases, I've said meh and not bothered at all. At least the New Year is nice, safe and arbitrary.

I saw 'dose' and thought it was question about medication.
They have the Christmas stuff out because they are marketing whores and we buy the stuff.

That's right! Don't buy Christmas presents! Stick it to the man! It sucks being broke and having no job, but at least I'm not being taken for some consumer whore. Take that, Wal-Mart! Of course, if I were going to buy someone a christmas present at WM, then that probably means that that person is not worth getting a present for anyway.

Christmas is slowly eating all the other Holidays. It has already consumed Thanksgiving and its now working on Halloween. Soon it will be an year round event!

retailers do more than 50% of their yearly business at xmas. walmart wants to make sure that you spend lots of your holiday money there.

on a sadder note, i noticed that one of my neighbors (only about 2 miles away) were putting luminarias up at their house. i dont know if they are planning on leading the holy family to their house for halloween or if they are just confused about the current date
